What an amazing piece of family history! You are so very lucky to have had it passed down to you.

G. W. Coover was my gggg-grandfather. My father & uncles were basically disowned from the Evans/Bittle/Coover family when my grandmother divorced my grandfather. Since then, everyone I knew with ties to my paternal blood line has passed away except two uncles; one refuses to acknowledge his father, the other doesn't remember much of this side of the family. None of us know much of anything about our family. I hope to be the person to change that. :) Is it at all possible to scan the Civil War documents for G. W. Coover? It would be great to be able to add those to my tree and share with the rest of my family. email: amy76lee@gmail.com Thank you.

Terri:

Your grandfather, Cecil, was the brother of my grandfather, Clifford (1899-1988). I am very interested if you have family information older than Charles E Coover (1872-1938). My grandfather told me he could not trace the Coover side past his father. Most information I have came from Jane Delger.

Thanks,

Curt Coover

His grandson was my grandfather, Cecil Coover (1902-1999). If you send me your address, I can send you a copy of the family tree once I receive it. It has a little info on Samuel, including his muster out number and details of his service.

Terri Hawkins

When I originally sent this query, I was frustrated because I couldn't find any information on my father's line. Now, 9 years later, I have a passion for this research and have learned more about searching. Much to my surprise, in reviewing posts here, I discovered someone replied to my simple little post and it turns out I have found a cousin! I just yesterday found reference to you and Andrea. Kelly is my half-sister, whom I haven't seen since I moved away from Dad's in Ohio to my Mom's home in Arizona at the age of 15. My mother was Dad's second wife. Dad passed away on March 20th, 1981 when I was pregnant with his first grandchild. A son, named William Donald Coover as well (I was not married at the time). I believe I have traced his family back to my Great Great Grandparents, Hiram (& Harriet) Coover. Hiram was born in 1821. He had 2 children, William Coover - born 1853 and Lizzie Coover - born abt. 1851. As far as I can tell, there are a lot of William, Lewis B. and Mary E (Elizabeth) names in the family. Since my Dad, Bill, only had daughters, we just have the Mary Elizabeth (me). Do you have more information? I'm interested in Lewis B (both Sr. & Jr.)'s wives maiden names, along with many other things. I have a Coover Family Tree that I've recently begun on Ancestry.com and would appreciate any information you can give me. My email is crftyq@gmail.com

George's sister and his parents' daughter was Nancy Allen Coover (June 22, 1884-Dec. 25, 1907). She married Grant Ratcliff (my connection) and they had three children. I do have an obituary for Nancy.

I have been researching Henry Cover (aka Henrick Kober) in Franklin Co. PA in the first decade of 1800. He died about 1872 in Green Twp., Franklin, PA. I have not been able to find parentage although he may have been a brother to Abram Cover who married Elizabeth Woods according to a biographical sketch. Abraham and Elizabeth were having children about the same time as Henry and Catharine, and a Henrick and Eva Kober were their children's sponsors at baptism in that county.

Coover/Cover families

I am trying to find information. I am descended from Andrew P. Coover Jr in the Franklin County, Pennsylvania area. His father was Andrew P Coover (also known as Cover) Sr, whose parents were Robert and Margaret (possibly Mary) Cover. All lived in Franklin County PA. This is as far as I have gotten and have hit a dead end. Any relatives or anyone who has information out there?

Wishing to locate family of Harry Coover. We think Harry was born between 1910 and 1914. He had a son named Earl in March of 1930 with Eleanor Summersgill Coover who was 16 at the time of Earl's birth. Rumor has it that Harry moved to Arizona, married and has twin daughters. I am looking for his family for ancestry records only. While it would be nice to meet additional family, I will not intrude if that is the family's wishes. Just trying to get ancestor information. Earl is now 74!

Please reply if you have any info regarding Harry's family.

Jill E. Scott, daughter to Earl and Helene Coover
