I only have Judith as my great-grandmother's name, but it is possible she was Judith Ann or the other way around. The copy of Jeremiah and Annie's marriage that I got from the church in Red Bank doesn't have the names of their parents only the witnesses. Contact me directly at mcm@netscape.ca and I'll share all info that I have.

I'm not sure if she's the one you are looking for.

I found her in the Islington, Middlesex 1871 Census RG10/281 Folio 36 Page 68:
Henry Copp, 33, Silver C?, Holborn
Emma Copp, 40, Herts
Henry Copp, 15, Whres, Middlesex
Louisa Copp, 6, Islington
Ellen Copp, 4, Islington

Sorry about Henry Sr's occupation, I couldn't decipher the writing. Same with Henry Jr's birth place.

Regards,
Ian

Hi

I have just seen your post with regards to Louise Copp. Unfortunately I do not have any information on Louisa Copp but I am looking for records for Ellen Copp (my great grandmother) who was also born in Islington between 1866 to 1868. I wonder if maybe they are related but it seems very difficult to trace any Copp family outside of the west country. Like you I do not know her parents , siblings etc as this side of my family have all passed away now. All I know is that Ellen Copp married thomas Laker in 1898. Just seeing if in your search her name may have cropped up.

Kind regards

Gillian

My Grandfather, William Robert Copp was also born in Clinton, Ontario, in 1893. His father was Ernest Copp who died at the young age of 28, and was married to Mary Thompson of Irish descent. They lived near Clinton in Blyth, Ontario. I do not know anything about his family history as he never talked of them. He did have a sister, Clara, who married Peter Fisher (Fischer). They lived on a farm outside of Clinton which I visited as a child. I was hoping that the info you had could maybe shed some light on this family as Clinton in the late 1890's was, and still is a rather small town. By the birth dates, is it possible that Ernest and Mary are siblings? Any information on this Copp family would be appreciated.
I have found information about William Copp on familysearch.org.

He is listed in "Massachusetts Deaths 1841-1915". He died on 4 Sept 1863 in Saugus, MA age 58y 9m and 3d. That would put his birthdate on 1 Dec 1804. Parents are listed as Samuel (Copp) and Nancy (Sweetser).

William's wife, Isabella, is listed in the "Massachusetts State Census, 1865" living with her children Margaret, Mary E., Walter (Leverett), and Warren P. and his wife June (Jane). William Copp is not listed due to his death in 1863.

Have you ever found any records about Isabella or about the parents of either William or Isabella?

I am trying to identify the family of Louisa Copp, born about 1869 in Islington, London, England.
I do not have either of her parent's names.
Louisa's marriage certificate to Henry Hedges in 1894 and the 1901 census indicate that she was born in about 1869.
On her marriage certificate, her father is listed as Copp (deceased), gold worker. This is my small lead that I am hoping will help.
Does anyone already have Louisa in their tree?
Regards,
Ian
Re: Copp Family of Devon

Have been trying to ascertain the parents of my ancestor Susannah Copp b.c. 1750 married to Hugh Henry Nicholls in Oakford, Devon in 1769. I have found a Susannah ch. 1732 at Washfield of Nicholas Copp and Mary White. Nicholas is probably himself the son of Nicholas & Mary who christened a number of children in Cruwys Morchard. The surname is fairly unusual and limited to the area around Tiverton.

At the time of the Oath Rolls in 1723, there were 3 different men named Nicholas taking the Oath. All were literate. Nicholas of Tiverton signed at Silverton with Thomas Copp, possibly his son. Nicholas of Washfield signed at Crediton, and Nicholas of Templeton signed his Oath at Exeter.

Can anyone help clarify which Nicholas had which children and wives?

Re: John Copp in Folsom Prison California 1930--CA State archives

I was lucky to get info (dates) of my relative's sentence in the historic Los Angeles Times which I searched at the CA archives for free, but other libraries may have this database, or others for the city you need.
If you can't go to the CA State Archives in person, maybe email or call to see if they can locate information. In person I searched their (printed) index to folsom prison list (NOT ONLINE) to find the "case file" number for my ancestor and using that they located and photo copied a MUG shot and ID Card showing sentence/offense. Unfortunately, aside from this info, they have very few actual case files which show detailed prisoner histories. Coverage is spotty so dont get your hopes up. But even the info in the index may tell you the date of admission to prison.
It is best if you know about when the prison term would have started or which prison the person was at. Dont expect quick turn around, as they have limited staff. I have found nothing online, so this is your best bet.
Link showing the prison holdings:

http://www.sos.ca.gov/archives//collections/photographs/corr...

Info on services and fees (mostly fees for photocopying) at
www.sos.ca.gov/archives/about-the-archives/services-fees.htm

Reference Desk: (916) 653–2246
General Information: (916) 653–7715
Fax: (916) 653–7363
Email: (go to "contact us" on the webpage for link)

If they cannot do this for you by mail, you could try to hire someone locally to get it for you.
The prison records at the State Archives in Sacramento were a great source-I dont know if they will so a search for you for a fee (I went in person), but I was able to get a mug shot, and dates of conviction, sentence, etc. These do not agree completely with the sentencing info I got from a local news story of his conviction, so I am still searching for something from the actual court or a more detailed news story (crime blotter) from that time period for the LA area.

What I have is a list of Copp names and birthdates. Among them
the name Thomas Greenlaw Copp March 4,1818 and the note this was your grandfather Copp. This list includes the names, Daniel,John, Sarah, Ebenezer, Maryann, Thomas, Maris(?)Rebeca, Martha, Susan, Ebenezer Coffin, and George. This was found in Grandfather Copp's bible according to my uncle Everett Meader. Evidently sometime Sarah married a Meader. Do these names mean anything to you?

Arlene,

I was working on my family tree and running into dead ends about my maternal grandmother and grandfather, Walter C. Darrar and Hilda (Forsburg) Darrar. When I Googled "Darrar family of Jefferson County Oregon," I found your message.

The Darrar family about whom you have information has to be my kin. My grandparents were killed in an auto accident, just as you describe, although I did not know the date. Their children included Alice (my mother), my uncles Carl, Lloyd and Spencer, and my aunts Jeanne, Mildred, and Waline.

I see that your post is nine years old. I hope you get this message. I am eager to pursue my mother's side of our family.

Sincerely,
Les AuCoin

PS: I am a retired U.S. congressman from Oregon.

In this reply are you saying that Ebenezer was born in Plainfield, CT or John. Still trying to find records for John.
If you feel Ebenezer was John's father we have pieces before and after. Visit site www.coppfamilyny.com

Looking forward to hearing from you.
