Descendants of Ralph & Mary (Byram) Copper ~ Pennsylvania

I am starting research my Copper family line. I descend from Martha Copper (born 1811) who married David Brothers in Beaver County, PA in 1837. Martha was the daughter of Ralph (born ca. 1773) and Mary Byram Copper (born 1774). Martha Copper Brothers was my Great-Great -Great Grandmother.

I have seen the Copper Family Website and read about the origins of the family in Kent County, Maryland. Am wondering if there might be any other direct descendants on this board. Any help appreciated.
Stacye

She was very instrumental in developing the HOSTS program, which proved to be very beneficial to the students throughout the entire city. She also was an input liaison for many book companies when they designed new editions of their social studies textbooks.

She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, an educational fraternity; Toledo Federation of Teachers; Toledo Area Writing Project; National Association of Mathematics; and National Association of Black School Educators.

Does anyone with a "Copper" tree have a Jane Copper, born in 1768, married to any Copper man from the Kent County area? She had a son George born 1793, and was living with her grandson George T. in the 1850 census.
She was living alone in the 1830 census, so whoever she was married to was dead by 1830.
Copper family

I am trying to research Cyrus Copper (my gg-grandfather), born in MD abt 1835 . He was married to Drusilla Shearlock who was born in MD abt 1838. 1870 Census shows 5 children: John, William, Susan, George, Henry and Emma. Henry Copper (my g-grandfather) was born abt 1866 in Baltimore, MD. He married Anna Marie Rehmert, born about 1870, Henry Copper died in 1899. 1900 census shows 5 children: John, Betha, Cyrus, Maria and Harry. Cyrus, born 6/29/1895 in Baltimore, MD. was my grandfather. He married Anna Geschwind and they had two daughters Charlotte and Anna (my mother). Cyrus died 2/11/1934 in Queens, NY. Does anybody out there know about this lineage? I would like to exchange any information that you might have. I can be contacted via email at stevenkulikowski@hotmail.com.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Steven

Hi;

Just seen your message, (though a bit late I'll admit). I've only just started researching my mother's side of the family, (the Coppers). I've managed with reasonable certainty to get back to the late 18th century. My mother and ancestors all originate from the West Brom area but the earliest records show the lineage coming from Winson Green. May be there is data we can both swap that may iron out some of the creases.

regards

Tim

Cass,

We have been able to research back to our George Copper born ca 1668. Where he was born we do not know. We suspect he was born in England but so far the proof of that eludes us. The first that we find him is in Kent County, Maryland 1688, at about the age of 19 or 20. There is an Elizabeth Copper who died in Maryland ca 1723/24 that we think was his mother but again the proof is yet to be found.

The John Copper that I thought you might be refering to was here too early to be your John but just in case it might be of some help here are some things found about him:
Widow Jane Copper had a son John Copper.
Widow Copper married Robert Willmot
Robert Willmot died 1696 in Baltimore County, Maryland.
Jane Copper Willmot died after 09 May 1696.
John Copper married Sarah (last name unknown) prior to 05 Mar 1686.
John and Sarah are named in the will of Henry Parker, His probate is found in Talbot County, Maryland 12 Jul 1684.
John Copper of Baltimore County, Maryland was age 21 in 1728.
Born to a John & Betsy Copper on 28 Jun 1857 was Nancy & Harriet Copper.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help to you ~ Ann

Sandi,

A guess would be that you have found the grave of Cornish COPPER, son of Samuel Glasgow COPPER (1802-1866) and Fanny Martha NINERICK (ca 1802-aft 1870). Cornish COPPER was married to Emily Jane SHINN.

Cornish and Emily resided in Perry - Monroe County - Indiana in 1870 and then they resided in Sandborn Twp - Knox County - Indiana in 1880. Some of the children can be found in Roger Mills County, OK later on.

I am not from this direct line so I do not have exact dates but this is the only COPPER family that I know of who resided at any time in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. I have the birth date of Cornish COPPER as ca 1840 ~ which is close to the 1843 you have and I have no death information about him. Did you also find the grave of Emily J COPPER?

If you are interested please contact me off line.

Thanks ~ Ann

They moved to Pendleton, Indiana shortly thereafter. They moved to Westmoreland Co. PA between 1900-1905. By 1910, they were divorced and Margaret was living in Carroll Co., MD. She died in 1926, supposedly in Baltimore. Any info on the separation/divorce would be appreciated. And what she was doing between 1910 until her death. I can't locate her on the 1920 census.

By, the way, do you have any information on who Cyrus' parents are? I suspect William is his grandfather, since no children are listed under William on the 1840 census. Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated.

George Cornish Copper & Ted Copper

George & Ted are sons of Cornish Copper (son of Samuel Glasgow Copper) I am the descendant of another little known son of Cornish, John E. Copper.

George C. was born Jun 4, 1880. He was born in either MI or IN. He married Sarah Chandler Herring and had 2 daughters, Myrtle & Rachel. He separated from his wife approximately 1918 and subsequently divorced. Myrtle stated that she and her sister went to his funeral in Arkansas in 1955. I have not been able to find him in the census since 1910. The last document I have been able to come up with is his 1918 draft registration. He was doing factory work in Mich, but registered in Bloomfield, MO. If anyone has any info on him after 1918, I would appreciate it.

Now for Ted. I don't have much information on him, other than what I know from a letter written by Myrtle. She stated that he married Sally, and they had 2 children, a daughter name Ruth and a son named James. They were settled in Marked Tree, AR in 1925. I have never been able to find him in any census. He was most likely born in IN. If anyone has any info on him, I would love to hear from you.

I have quite a few family photos, and would be happy to share them.

Thanks,
Sandi

I'm looking for any information on Harriet Copper and Abraham Francis. Their son, Robert Laurence Francis (my 2nd great grandfather) was born April 1847 in Delaware, Ontario, Canada. He died September 22, 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota. According to his obit. his siblings included: Miss Hanna Francis and Mrs. Thomas Marks, of Wilson, New York; and two brothers, A.A. Francis, of Kansas City, Mo., and Erastus Francis, a resident of the Fiji islands. He was also survied by his step daughter, Vina Walker of Duluth, Minnesota.
In 1887-1888 Robert lived in Grand Portage, Minnesota and met my great grandmother, Theresa, and they had my great grandmother, Isabelle Elizabeth Francis. Robert did not claim her as far as I know but Isabelle claimed him as her father.
Any one with info. please contact me,
Thank you,
Delayne
