I'm afraid we've got different Copple/Koppel branches. I believe my earliest people came from Schwartzwald, Bayern, Germany circa 1780. They apparently settled first in NC and later moved to to IN where they died circa 1820-30.

So sorry we couldn't make a connection. Good luck in your research.

Carol Ann Kyrias

Hello,

I have been trying to find some background on my Great Great grandmother Franziska Koppel. She immigrate to the US in 1892 and was born in Germany in Nov 1867. I was able to find her marriage certificate and it lists her parents as Mich. Koppel (I suspect Michael) and Theresa Schmidt. I haven't been able to find any information prior to the time of her immigration for any of them.

If by chance they are present in your book I would love to hear about it.

Thanks
Marlin

Mary Copple Shelby Indiana 1843

I need to find some information on Mary Copple from Shelby County Indiana. Her parents may have been Abraham and Sarah Copple. The marriage license shows her born in 1818 and married to William Isaac Howery/Howrey in 1843. Her son was born soon after in Hopkins, Missouri, and she died not long after possibly in Taylor County Iowa (next to Hopkins MO) John Braxton Howery, her son, was raised by the Copples. His aunts, Barbara Copple Foster Drumm and Susan Copple Parker, and uncle Ephriam Copple, lived here in Fremont County, Iowa, as well as his own son, Joseph Howery, grandson John Edgar Howery, and my husband Jon Howery. John Braxton died in Oilton, OK or TX. The family has no documentation for any of this, except for the marriage license in Shelby County. Can anyone help us find some information ?
Thanks much! She is a mystery woman.
Mary Howery

Since you mention Cauble as a possible spelling variation, i have seen quite a few Cable's around PA too. Never considered how many ways this Copple name could've been spelled over the years.

I will keep this all in mind because one of the spellings in your other post was very close to the "kepple" spelling.

The Kepple family isn't something i'm pursuing at this time but i do have info on Susannah C. Kepple Young(possibly Howe)Lackey if anyone is interested.

She had 3 husbands that i know of and possibly four. The three i know of are James Kirk Lackey and his brother William L. Lackey (sons of Jacob Leckey and Mary Osenbaugh Leckey). She married Wm after James died and Wm had been widowed a few years too. But the name Howe also appears after Kepple in something i received on her recently and so i wonder if whoever Howe was a husband too. And she also married a Young whose first name i forget at the moment but can easily find for anyone who wants that info.

Most of what i have pertains to her marriage to Jas. Lackey and Wm. Lackey and her pursuit of an increase in his War pension and then later a widows pension (which she was denied it appeared because she was not his wife at the time he served in the CW). Other stuff too.

Ready to share with anyone who is interested.

I always thought that the "CAUBLE" family from southern Indiana was part of the COPPLE line, but they don't seem to have any dead ends. They can take their line back to PA too.
Leslie
We meet again, tymtrvlr!

Just wondering if this Copple family name could've been changed over the years to Kepple or Cuple. What do you think or know about that? Not entirely sure but i think i've seen it spelled Cupple and Cuppel too.

I have a Kepple in my Lackey/Osenbaugh line and notice a lot of Cuple's all around PA. The Kepples i've seen so far have been in Butler and maybe in Clarion/Armstrong too. I have seen some Cuple's in Northampton, Lehigh and/or Allegheny and Washington Cos. It gets a little confusing sometimes...can i get an amen?

Shari

I'm looking into lineage on my maternal side. My grandmother, Madeline Aliperti, was daughter of Joseph Aliperti and Mary Copple.

Mary was born in MO in 1890 and died in 1925. We believe she married a man by the name of "Blausio," or some rendition thereof in 1909, before marrying my great-grandfather. We believe Mary and Mr. Blausio may have had two children. Family lore is Mr. Blausio and possibly the children died in 1910, but we don't know how or exactly when.

Mary Copple married Joseph Aliperti (1890-1940) in 1911.

Mary's parents came from Italy sometime between 1880 and 1885. Her father, Sabato (Sam) Copple was born in 1854. Her mother, Felomena (last name unknown), was born in 1959.

They lived in MO.

Does anyone have any information on this line of Copples?

Thank you!

Kelly Maloney

Hello Charles,
I happen to have a Warren W. Copple in my files. He has the siblings of Hazel, Fredrick, & Clara Mae. Warren's parents were Enos Riley Copple b. 11 Jul 1871 in Clark Co. Indiana, and Visa Jane Hopper b. 13 Aug 1876. Enos Riley Copple died 13 May 1963 in Scott Co. Indiana. My direct line came out of Washington Co. Indiana to Sullivan Co. Indiana. My direct line of Mary Copple b. Apr 1839 is the dau. of Levi Copple and Lucinda Harmon, (both born in 1816). I'd be glad to share with you what I have on the Copple family.
I hope to hear from you.
Leslie
tymtrvlr at csinet.net
Sounds like journalist Ted Koppel's family. His parents were German Jews who fled to England from Germany in the late 1930s. His father, Erwin Koppel, was a tire manufacturer. Ted was born 8 Feb 1940 in England. He and his parents came to the US when he was 13, in 1953. (From biographical information readily available online.)

I was the guardian for my great aunt up until the time of her death last year. She was a Copple and her mother was a Maddox. She also had Woods relatives as well on her mother's side I believe. All of these families were located in the Marion Co, IL area. I have a huge tote full of all the old family photos dating back to the early 1800's all the way back to tin type photos. These are just sitting in my garage and I'd really like some of the family to get them. Email me at gunnerzmom@yahoo.com if this is a line you're familiar with. Thanks! Wendy Silliman 618-246-0250

Hey Marilee! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Last night in the emergency room dad had mentioned you had spoke to me on the computer and I was totally clueless as to what he was talking about!

I happened to visit the library today to find some history on CLinton and he mentioned this site(which I forgot I was a member of!) so I came here to explore. I found my own post then noticed your post beneath it. lol!! So, I had to call dad and tell him I lied about talking to you and explained what had happened. I dont use this site anymore due to not much help in my searches and just never came back.

Anyhow, thank you so much for helping me out with the names. Dad couldnt remember how to spell most of them and I was always typing in everything but the right ones. LOL! Became very nerve racking!

Well, again thanks bunches and I greatly appriciate it! I will update my tree on here to reflect more nowledge!

LeaEtta

Re: Nicholas copple

These are the notes I have for Nicholas: 1. Virginia claims to land in western Pennsylvania, pg 631. Nicholas Copple made claim for 250 acres as a Sergeant for the Pennsylvania Line. Return dated 6 Apr 1794.(I have this book - It is about the changing boundry line of Pennsylvania) 2. Nicholas was serving as a sergeant in Co C, 4th Artillery of the Pennsylvania Line in the Continental Army. After the war, he received Bounty Land, Warrant # 9208, dated 29 June 1789, for services rendered. (I didn't chase down the Bounty Land Warrant) You should be able to with NARA Forms. 3. Westmoreland Co. Pennsylvania, Orphan's Court Records, Docket 3
3 Nov 1784. Petition of David and Robert McKee, administrators of the estate of Samuel McKee dec'd, showing that the personal estate is not sufficient to discharge debts and maintain the widow and children, and that McKee died owning a tract of land in Hempfield Township adjoining lands of Nicholas Keppele, Joseph Brownlee, Adam Turner (deceased), William Best, and Conrad Hoak, containing 200 acres, and requesting a sale of this land. (more to this article, but showing that Nicholas owned land in Pennsylvania in 1784.)
I sometimes find articles about Nicholas when searching for other ancestors that were in the area. The spelling of his last name has been... well tortured, making documents hard to find. Nicholas Copple is my direct line. I come from the son, Jacob Peter, who died in Clark Co. Indiana. Jacob Peter's son, Philip, who married Anna/Patsy Wright is my next generation. I hope this helps and can guide you in your search. Leslie tymtrvlr at csinet.net
I am a Koppel descended Jacob Koppel, the son of E. Koppel and Pauline of Neustadt, Germany, and am wondering if we are a branch of your ancestor's family tree. Jacob anglicized his name to James, upon immigrating to the United States about 1914. One of his brothers, Erwin Koppel, emmigrated from Germany to London in the early 1930's and on to New York around 1955. A third brother, name unknown, was euthanized in a German institution. The brother's father, "E. Koppel" probably "Erwin" or "Edgar", was a tire manufacturer. I believe in Franfort. Does it sound as though we are a branch of the "Copple" tree?

Hi, LeaEtta! This is one of your aunts in Texas. I'm not really familiar with the history of the Copple family. It seems it's not uncommon to have no interest in roots and ancestry until all the relatives who could tell you something are dead... bummer!

Your dad probably knows more than I do but what I am sure of is: Roger Riley, Georgianne and Marilee Beth were born to Roger Runyon Copple and Georgia Anne Hayes Copple (who was actually a very nice person ;-)

On the Copple side:
Clarence Alvin (Uncle Bud), Roger Runyon and Lorene (Aunt Sis) were born to Clarence Alvin(?) Copple and Mae Belle Runyon.

Uncle Bud had three sons: Roger, Bryan(Brian?) and Riley
(The Riley name came from Mae Belle's brother)

Aunt Sis married Charles Nash and had two children: Wanda and Chuck.

My dad, Roger Runyon, was indeed in WWII. He was a radio operator on the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga.

There seems to be a lot of Copples in the midwest so I'm guessing our roots are there somewhere.

You were pretty young when my mom died in 1982 but up until then, we saw you and Troy and your mom and dad when we came up to Missouri for summer vacations. We have some cute pictures of you guys when y'all were little... so you actually did know her but probably don't remember. She used to send birthday cards to y'all and she'd have me sign them, too. (Ah, you just had a birthday! Happy birthday to you!)

History is often told from a personal perspective rather than objective and facts are subjected to memories and emotions. Remember, if more than one person is involved in a story, the story will always have at least two sides. ;-)

I hope this has helped in some way. Tell your dad "hey!" and a belated "Happy Birthday" to him.

Your aunt, Marilee~
