Elsie Lou Huffington, 83, of Marshall died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, in Hearltand Nursing Center in Casey. She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Joseph Cork and Glenna Thompson Cork.
Survivors include her husband, E.J. “Jack” Huffington, whom she married June 23, 1942; four daughters, Virginia “Jinny” Collins of Casey, Janet Crow and her husband Dudley of Lawrence, Kan., Carol Huffington of Okeechobee, Fla., and Cathy Smithson and her husband James, of both Decatur and Galesburg; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Elsie Cork; one brother, Max Cork; one sister, Virginia Dean White; and a son-in-law, Mike Collins.
She was a member of Marshall First United Methodist Church, was a 60-year member of Marshall Chapter 739 Order of Eastern Star. She also was a member of Walter Burdick Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Clark County Republican Women's Club, Burnsides Guild and Clark County Historical Society.
Services are 10 a.m. CST Saturday in the church, with the Revs. David Deal and Jim Tinzmann officiating. Burial is in Marshall Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 7 a.m. until services Saturday at the church. Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union assisted with arrangements.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Organ Fund at Marshall United Methodist Church, or Hearltand Nursing Center.
