Mar. 2, 1802 in Cheshire England that I think may be her father but I have not been able to confirm that yet. This Stephen that I believe to be her father is the son of John and Elizabeth Cork.

My Mary Ann married Charles Walter and had eleven children.
Any information that anyone can share woul be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find where HENRY CORK was born and have had little luck. From the census' (1861 to 1901) different places were named including: Croydon, Epsom and Norwood. I have been unable to find a HENRY CORK (born around these areas) in the birth indexes for a couple of years bracketing when he was born (abt. 1838). I have tried to find his father WILLIAM HENRY CORK in the census' hoping this would help, but have been unable to locate him. Any advice on what to try next would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Sarah was born in around 1922 she gave birth to a daughter in Blackpool in Lancashire in August 1942.Sheila Sarahs daughter is my very dearest friend and she has had a lifetime search to find her mother. When sheila was 2 yrs of age Sarah left her with people she was lodging with and said she was going to find work in London and then send for her daughter.Sheila beleives her Foster parents were hiding things from her and she never heard from her mother again. She has recently found out that Sarah was married in 1950 to a Kenneth Oppenheimer in Hendon but was divorced in 1956.She did once manage to contact her ex husband but he did not seem to be in good health and did not want to discuss the matter.Sheila does not blame her mother in any way and realises that she was born in troubled times as many of us were and although Beth as her mother called herself may no longer be with us Sheila simply wants to put closure onan aspect of her life that has troubled her for many years.I know that Beth would be so proud of the this very special person she gave birth to.Although Sheila has had health problems recently she is always there to listen to everybodys problems and when she enters a room she is like a ray of sunshine much loved by everybody. She only knows that Beth was born in Ireland mostly heresay from people over the years. If anybody can throw any light on this please contact me

Regards GILL

Cork family Vermilion Co. IL

I was born with the last name of Cook. After searching for my family history for over 25 years I recently acquired the marriage license of my Grandparents from Louisiana and was quite surprised to find out that my Grandfather’s last name was Cork, not Cook. He was married in 1907 under the name of Ora Cork, but by 1910, according to Census record he was going by the name of Ora Cook.

His parents were listed as John and Margaret Cork and he was listed as a native of Danville, IL. I have since learned that he had the following brothers: Charles H. Cork, John Cork, and Edward Cork. He also had several sisters: Ida May Cork, Dora Bell Cork, Kathryn M. Cork, and Nora L. Cork. I believe they were all born in Vermilion County IL.

The Father, John Cork was born May 1838 in Pickaway County Ohio and his wife was Margaret Cook, born July 10, 1844 in New York. John’s Father William Cork was born February 23, 1804 in Devonshire England and his wife was Jemima Miller, Born 1806 in either VA or PA.

I found an old newspaper article from 1899 that lists Ora Cork as having been involved in a White Capping incident in Danville, IL. I am wondering if he moved South and changed his name to avoid prosecution?

Is there anyone out there that can provide some answers and maybe even direct me to some relatives with more family backgroung?

Thank you,
Carol L. Cook/Cork
Cork-Kirk

My descendants have the surname of Kirk. They were from the Maryland area and involved with the canal. I have just discovered that a James Kirk, who was listed in Cecil Co. Maryland from 1860 on was listed as a James CORK in the census 10 years earlier. The dates and names match the James Kirk in 1850. I have seen church records in 1852 that showed him as Kirk. Just wondering if this has occurred before to anyone. Also, in 1840 there were other Corks listed in Maryland.

Thanks for any help.
