Mic, I may be way too late with this but it just may be that your John and family always lived in the same area in VT. There was no VT before 1777, it was all either NY or NH., and so through the years someone could be born in NY and then live in VT and never move. Its possible you might find his birth in the Cambridge/St.Albans area after all. Just a thought. Mary
