- Jennifer Wallace Cornwell, 26, of Hickory, formerly of Rockingham, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Jenni was born Nov. 20, 1982, in Richmond County, a daughter of Jim Wallace and the late Marie Speight Wallace. She was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 2001, and the University of North Carolina Pembroke. Jennifer taught at Grandview Middle School in Hickory, and formerly at Rohanen Junior High School in Rockingham. Surviving are her husband, Josh Cornwell of the home; father, Jim Wallace of Rockingham; brother, Layne Wallace of Clayton; sisters, Judi Wallace of Rockingham and Amy Updike of Bedford, Va.; and her grandmother, Ruth Speight of Rockingham. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, in the Family Life Center of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, with the Rev. Josh McDowell officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 5 to 8 tonight, Thursday, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham, and at other times at the Wallace home, 197 Gibson Drive, Rockingham.
