SAMUEL AND JANE CORNWELL 1798
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA


This indenture made this eleventh day of January in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight. Between SAMUEL CORNWELL AND JANE CORNWELL his wife, both of Prince William County, of the one part and JAMES DUNLOP of Georgetown, Montgomery County, State of Maryland. JOHN RYBURN,late of Fredericksburgh and commonwealth of Virginia and ALEXANDER MONTGOMERIE of Annick Lodge in the kingdom of Great Britain, executors of the last will and testament bearing date on or about the eighth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety two, did devise to JEAN CORNWELL, then by the name of JEAN CONNOR, an annuity of sixteen pounds of Virginia currency per year to be paid her quarterly during her natural life and did also constitute and appoint the said JAMES DUNLOP, JOHN RYBURN AND ALEXANDER MONTGOMERIE executors of the said will. Now this indenture witnesseth that SAMUEL CORNWELL and JEAN CORNWELL his wife for the sum of one hundred and twenty eight pounds current money of the commonwealth of Virginia to them in hand paid by these presents do and each of them doth fully and for every quit claim unto JAMES DUNLOP, JOHN RYBURN AND ALEXANDER MONTGOMERIE the said annuity of sixteen pounds current money of Virginia and all remedies both in law and in equity for recovering the same. In witness whereof the said SAMUEL CORNWELL AND JEAN CORNWELL have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first written.

Received on the eleventh day of January seventeen hundred and ninety eight of JAMES DUNLOP the sum of one hundred and twenty eight pounds current money of Virginia in full for the annuity mentioned in the afore going release.

At a court held in Prince William County the 5th day of February 1798.
This release from SAMUEL CORNWELL AND JANE CORNWELL his wife to JAMES DUNLOP, JOHN RYBURN AND ALEXANDER MONTGOMERIE, executors of the last will and testament of THOMAS MONTGOMERIE deceased, was proved by the oaths of THOMAS HARRISON JR and CARR BAILEY JUNR and ordered to be certified. And at a court continued and held for the same County the 6th day of February 1798, this release was fully proved by the oath of GEORGE COCKRELL and ordered to be recorded.
