How interesting! I remember visiting "Aunt Evelyn" Kish in the late '60s in Nanty-Glo, Pa. It seems that you have done some research. Do you know when Pietro landed in the US? I believe he was my grandfather. Do you know what happened to Maria? I seem to remember that she died during or shortly after childbirth.

Re: Corte

My grandmother was Agnes Larese, and she married Oswaldo Corte, they were both from Aurunzo. They immigrated to the United States in the late 1800's we believe that Oswaldo, left before Agnes and she followed sometime around 1901, they had 5 children, they were Ernest, Bruno, and Jordan Corte, all deceased now, and Inez and Nora also deceased. My mother was Nora, the youngest of the family. Oswaldo and my grandmother lived in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, until his death, in 1930, of a stroke, she then brought the children to Detroit, Michigan. Agnes had a sister that stayed in Aurunzo named Florinda. She passed away sometime in the 1960's. Agnes and Florinda had a brother named Silvio Larese,(he had a twin brother that died as a child) who also came to the United States in the early 1900's, he had 2 children named Betty and Bruno. They are my second cousins. All I know of the Larese family was that they owned a large hotel in Auronzo, I don't know the name of it. I remember my grandmother saying that when Oswaldo came to the United States he stayed with a cousin in up state New York, for about 6 months, when she came to the states they then moved to Pennsylvania. Oswaldo worked in the coal mines there. Any information that you can give me on the Corte side would be greatly appreciated. Linda

My grandmother and her family were from Auronzo, Belluno Province. My great grandmother and grandfather were Antonia (Sualon?) Corte and Oswaldo Corte. Their children were Battistina, Marie, Corona, Julia and Oswald. Maria was my grandmother, who married Pietro Tomasel supposedly from the same geographic locality. All the children, except Julia immigrated to western PA in late 1890's and early 1900's (as far as I know). Battistina married a "Zandi", Corona married a "Larese" and Oswaldo married a "Vecillia Reani", all resided in Cambria Cty, PA. Info? Pls Contact me.
