Hi. I'm searching for information about ancestry of Cortes family in the Philippines. My grandmother's mother was a Cortes and her father was a Jurado. Specifically, I want to know about the Cortes of Ilocos Sur. I want to know if they are related to the Cortes family mentioned in histoy books (by Dean Worcester and Murat Halstead) as Imploring the Americans to annex the Philippines to America before the outbreak of the Spanish-American war. Not that I hold such action against the Cortes family - they were dispossessed of their lands at that time). It's a fascinating piece of information. I have many Cortes cousins.
