Hi Paul, your grandmother (we called her tia Concha), and my mom Florinda Cortinas are sisters.Your grandfathers name is Noe Valles who is about 87 years old and still very sharp. When you were little you used to come to our house and play with my sisters, especially Isabel who was about your age.
I think my mom told me you had gotten in touch with her in the recent past. I hope you and your mom whom everyone called "little Irene" are doing well. If you need more info, please feel free to email me.

I'm trying to find family in Texas too. My dad was named Homer Cortinas, My mom Margie Cortinas. Most of my family was from San Antonio and Corpus. I don't remember much of them but know my cousins were Diana Lobo, "Shorty" Cortinas, Eddie Cortinas, David Cortinas and Danny/Daniel Cortinas.

My name is Edward Cortinas, I am your first cousin once removed. Your grandfather was my uncle. There is very little information on my grandparents, only speculation. My father doesn't know much. It seems my grandparents never liked to discuss where they came from.
I have found an interesting piece of information on an old document. I found my fathers birth certificate which lists my grandfather's birthplace. At the moment I don't recall where it is, but I have it at home. I was, and still am, intending to do some research on our family. It is somewhere in Mexico. I thought it was a great clue to start my research.

Hello Rosalio I know a little about my great grandfather life but i know that him and his brother came from some where from over there in coahuila and he lost his brother on the way over i know my father said my grand father talked that his father was a cook for pancho villa dear the civil war. I also know that there is alot of cortinas up north in the usa dont to many but some and they are all in Texas. My grandfather had brother and sisters and grandfather had 2 boys and 6 to 8 grils. well thats it for now

Hello my name is Yvette Ramirez Cortinas and I know a Tino and Olivia Ramirez who lived near Rogers Middle School and Holy Name Church. Iam married to Joseph D. Cortinas who was born 2/29/64 he has a brother who is Mark Cortinas born 12/21/1963 or 62 i believe. My husbands father is Alfredo Cortinas who was married to Rose marie Alvarado. Gregorio Cortinas was my Grandfather's brother. My grandfather was Tomas Cortinas. Yes, Gregorio and his family settled in Taylor, Texas. My granfather Tomas settled in Austin.

My name is Rene' Cortinas (male). My granfather was Tomas Cortinas and he was born in Brownsvillw Texas, but settled in Austin Teaxs. He had several brothers that settled all over Texas but mostly in Austin, Corpus Chriti, and the Rio Grande valley. He was married to Aurelia Tamez and her family was from the Rio Grande Valley too. I have to believe that all Cortinas are related because it is a very unusual surname. The Cortinas story is a very intriguing story and we are realted to Juan Cortina that started the Cortinas Wars in Brownsville. Also, it is told that we are descendents of Geronimo, the great Apache Chief.

Hi, just to let you know that there are several Yahoo groups based in Spain that I recon would be of interest to you. The genealogy groups I belong to are a few but not related to the Catalonian area (i.e. Cádiz, Asturias, Galicia, etc.).
By the way I´m also a Cortinas, although the "s" got lost through the years (english but of spanish origin).
I have managed a few generations here in Spain and would be able to give basic info. should you require any.
