George Elwood Costain 1863-1900 was the son of Robert A. Costain 1841-1910 and Elizabeth Callister 1842-1870. He married Jessie Georgiana Bowden in West Va. Robert A. married 2nd Isabella M. Todd 1833-1901 Robert married his daughter-in-law Jessie G. Costain 7-3-1904 in West Va. Hope this helps.

I*m an Australian, researching my family tree.
My gr gr grandmother, Annie Costain was born on Prince Edward Island. Her grandmother brought her brothers over to Canada, from the Isle of Man.

I am an Australian, working on my family tree. My gr gr grandmother was a Costain. Her people were from Prince Edward Island, in Canada. Many of her family moved to New England in the USA. The family originally came from The Isle of Man, in the UK.

Catherine Edith Costain

I recently got my original birth certificate. Being adopted, it is a cool thing for me to know my mothers name. Her name was Catherine Edith Costain-Hayes. I was born in Bangor ME on 3/24/66. I think I have traced her to being born on 15 Apr 1934, ssn issued in New york and passing on 13 Aug 2000 with her last residence being Snowmass, Pitkin, Colorado. I am trying to run down my tree and find out where I am from. If anyone has any info I would seriously appreciate it.

Hello Sandra

George Bentley and Helena Costain were my great, grandparents. Helena was born in 1873 and married George in 1896. He was born in 1869 and died in 1947. Helena died in 1936. They lived in Lancashire, England.

They had 3 children, Edith born 1897 and died 1905, Marguerite born 1898, married Frederick Lomax in 1918 and died in 1981 and George born 1905, married Jesse Sproule in 1926 and he died in 1981.

George Bentley had 4 children, Stanley, Edith, Rita and Eric. The family lived in Liverpool for many years then moved to Llandudno, North Wales. The only surviving child is Eric Bentley.

My father, Stanley Lomax has written a family book in which he tells of the family history back to Costain and Bentley origins. I am now trying to update and further this history and would be happy to speak to you about the family at any time.

My G.G.Grand Father Richard Costain emigrated to Prince Edward Island Canada from Isle of Man about 1818-1820.His Mother and 3 brothers also emigrated with him.

My husbands 3xgrandmother was Elizabeth Costain born Isle of Man father John Costain Builder deceased on her marriage certificate in 1876 to William Henry Catterall.
William died in 1893 and we don't know what became of Elizabeth.

Looking for further information on William Costain, born St. Mary's, Castletown, Isle of Man, April 19, 1837. Married to Jane Toole around 1854. Need to know where they were married. Who William's father and mother were.
