My great-grandmother was a Costella. There are some Costellas in Long Island, N.Y. The family is originally from Porcigatone in Northern Italy. Near Borgotaro and Parma.

Costella (Costley) in Jefferson County, Texas

My grandfather was half Mexican. His Americanized name was Costley. In the 1920 Census the name is "Costella" which is probably closer to the truth. He may have been from San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.

Mother says he died when he fell while cleaning a smoke stack at a saw mill. I cannot find records of his birth, his marriage to my grandmother Bessie Mae Roberts, or records of his death.

Help me if you can.

Costella surname

Hellooooooo Joe, I have been working on my family tree for a year and have only been searching for the name spelled " Costell'o'.
But yesterday I received a death cert and the last name was spelled with "a". So I thought I would take a chance and see if there were any posting under that spelling. And came across your posting. I know my great grandfather went from Italy to Ireland for some unknown reason and met my great grandmother and were married there and then they came to the USA. His name was William Michael Costello and married Elizabeth Shea. They wound up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Could there be any type of connection ?? Let me know.
Thanks and godspeed,
Juls

Any info about the Costella family from Porcigatone, Italy would be appreciated. The oldest relative I know was Donino Costella married to Maria Moruzzi, they were my great grandparents. The village is near the town of Borgo Val di Taro.
