SYCAMORE, Ill. - Edith Harriet Costello, 77, Muscatine, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, Ill., after an extended illness.

Services are at St. Mathias Catholic Church. The Rev. John Paul Gallagher will officiate.

Committal and a luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the Mark Costello residence . Arrangements by the Jeffrey S. Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory of Muscatine. The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Lung Association or Tobacco Free Muscatine in care of New Horizons.

Mrs. Costello was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Harvard, Ill., the daughter of Dudley W. and Wilda Grimmes Siperly. She married Anthony Costello. He preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Victor Bill of Muscatine.

She worked as a cosmetologist, certified nurses aid and homemaker. She enjoyed reading books, collecting dolls, playing cards, scrabble and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Mark and wife Mary of Muscatine; a daughter-in-law, Jolene Kahl of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, Matt and Mike Costello of Muscatine, Jessica Kahl of Iowa City, Cindy Wright and husband Willie and James Kahl and wife Brandi, all of Montgomery, and Solomon Kahl; eight great-grandchildren, including Ashley and Sidney Wright, Daniel, James and Brittney Kahl of Montgomery, Solomon, Zaneka and Natalee; a sister, Grace Kelley of Erie, Ill.; and a brother, Don Siperly of Lake Geneva, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; three sons, Bill in 1973, Tony in 1983 and Jim in 2002; two brothers, Gordon and Walter; and a sister, Gert.
