Vickie - I also have classified David, Andrew and Henry Costner as the children of Thomas and Mary M. (Barringer) Costner. As I mentioned in a previous message, the census schedules support Henry's birth as occurring between 1770-1780; this would place him in the first marriage of Thomas (to Mary M. Barringer). Also, if you study Thomas and Catherines' pension files, when the surviving "children and heirs at law" of Catherine filed for Catherine's benefits in 1846, they did not list Henry or Andrew even though both were alive at that time. At that time, 'heirs at law' would not have included stepchildren, which Henry and Andrew would have been in relation to Catherine. I believe this is an important point that seems to be overlooked by many. The idea that Mary, Thomas, Joseph and Frederick might simply have been out of touch or uninformed is pure assumption and speculation.
