Mrs. Amanda Sanders Succumbs to Illness Extending over Period of More Than Two Years.
Death called one of the oldest residents of the county Friday night in the person of Mrs. Amanda Sanders. Death occurred at the home of a son, W.E. Sanders, seven miles northwest of Duncan. She had been ill more than two years, but her death was due principally to senility.
Funeral services were held at the Beeson Grantham Funeral Home chapel Saturday afternoon, the Rev. C.R. Kidd, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Following the service the body was shipped to Gordon, TX for interment. Mrs. Sanders had belonged to the Methodist church more than three score years.
Six children survive the aged woman, as follows: W.E. Sanders, Duncan; Drew Sanders, Temple; J.R. Sanders, Hastings; Mrs. G.A. Westbrook, Big Spring, Texas; Mrs. Deamie Sanders, Graham, Tex., and Mrs. Allie Wampler, Vernon, Texas. Mrs. Sanders' husband, a Confederate veteran, died in 1908. The family had resided in this county for more than 19 years.
