Quick check of the NZ BDM has an Ellen Couchman's death listed in 1937. Perhaps she never married?

Your post caught my attention as my GGG Grandmother was called Nickless McMurdo and died it Mabel Bush, Southland in 1891. With a name like that you would think there would be a connection?!
