Hi, Jan, I am interested in exchanging Couchman info with you. I have traced the Couchmans of Virginia (now West Virginia) back as far as about 1750 in Pennsylvania, where his name was spelled Kautzman. That spelling was also used in Virginia for his funeral record in the German speaking church of Berkeley County. I had no idea from where he came and would very much like to know what you have on him about his coming from England. There were a lot of Germans who went to England first, then to the colonies, and I haven't looked into that possibility. Do you have some record of his arrival?
