Kasarah (Kesirah?) (Kesarah?) (Coulter) Sims was my great-great grandmother. She married C. Norman Sims and had two children (that I know of) Cora Rebecca (Sims) Drummond and Charles Norman Sims. Her death certificate is unclear, name looks like it could be either Freeman or Truman. Can't find any information on any of them. They are from Belmont County, Ohio

The name is Kissiah Coulter. b. May 10, 1854, Marshall County Va. (now WV) to Freeman and Annie. She was married to Charles W. Sims or Simms 1/05/1875 in Marshall Co. She also had a brother named Freeman C. b. 1848 Belmont co., Oh,, died May 3, 1915 Bellaire, Belmont co. Married Mary Isabelle Sims (d of Jackson & Mary Stenrod Sims), 11/16/1871 Marshal Co., WV. Children were Hettie b 1874;Mary Ann b. 1878; Sarah b. 1884; Clara b. 1889.
Sister's of Kissiah - Nancy b. 1844; Sarah b 1849; Harriet b. 1852, d. 1886. Married John Franklin Barrett.
After the death of Annie, the elder Freeman married Samantha Clark. The elder Freeman died in Marshall County WV in 1903. Their children were: Levi Albert Maywood Coulter b. 1862, d. 1924; George Beranrd McClellan Coulter b. 1863, d. 1935; Victor Shaw Coulter, b 1867, d. 1904; Jesse Lee Coulter, b. 1869, d. 1949; William D. Coulter b. 1871, d. 1958; Martha Anna Coulter, b. 1875, d unk; Letitia (Lettie) b. 1878, d. unk. The elder Freeman was born ca. 1816 in Fayette Co,. Pa, son of Levi and Rebecca ?
My husband is descended from Jesse Lee. I have some old pics of some of these folks if you would like me to send them to you. Also can trace the line back to ca. Eleanor Coulter b. 1676 in Ireland. Happy St Patrick's day !

Marilyn, could you please tell me more about your Eleanor Coulter b in Ireland? My husband descends from Corbin Coulter of Sussex Co. DE b there before 1765. Several cousins and I believe his father, John Coulter, son of Joseph Coulter and Ann Ricords, was a grandson of Eleanor Colter/Coulter who was in Sussex Co. DE by 1719. Corbin moved to Harford Co. MD and then to Berkeley Co., VA/WVA where he married Margaret White McCabe in 1795.

I believe we've corresponded previously, you sent me a wonderful package of information. I believe I sent you what I had (which isn't much), just from Kisseah (I have the hardest time spelling her name!) on down. She had a daughter, Cora Rebecca, who married a Drummond (my great grandparents).

Unfortunately I never was able to find much else out about her.

I was just going by what the handwriting looked to say on Kesarah's death certificate (at the time.)

I was briefly in contact with a lady who gave me alot of information about the Coulter family. I don't have her name handy and all my geneology stuff is in boxes that I still haven't sorted in the three years since I've moved. I never was able to organize much, I guess I liked looking up the information more then organizing it.

There is a one sentence mention of Mary and Freeman in the book "Monroe County, Ohio Families" Published by the Monroe County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society copyright 1992

"Levi Coulter (b ca 1827 in Ohio) was related to Freeman Coulter (b ca 1820 in PA) and his wife Mary with whom he farmed in Pease Twp. in 1850."

I never got around to writing to any libraries or courthouses in Monroe County to see if I could find a marriage certificate or a death certificate for Mary. And now I've moved about 5 hours away from there and almost never get back for visits.
I guess unfortunately I lost interest in digging for more information.

I will try to find the name of the lady who who so kindly provided me with all that Coulter information, and let you know who she is. I just gotta find out which box it's in...

Thanks for the reply. When you refer to Freeman and Mary, I assume you mean Mary Bolen. I'm confused, where does Annie enter into the picture?

Annie is what it looked like on Kesarah's death certificate when I first posted this message about 5 years ago.
I was never able to verify that name, and since then the lady that is also listed in the replies to this message, has since told me her name was Mary. Never did find a death certificate for either an Annie or a Mary (Bolan) Coulter. But also, I did not look in Monroe County, where she could have died.

I am a descendant of Kesarah Coulter Sims through her daughter Icy. I would love to see the information that you have on the Coulter family as well as the pictures.
