My aunt (by marriage) says that her relative, Eliza Jane WILSON, married John COULTER'S nephew, Cyrenius Newton COULTER. I'm searching for more details.

Robert: Cyrenius Newton Coulter was my GG Grandfather. I have a lot of information on this family, originally descended from John Coulter and Abigail Parshall. Email me to share information.

My g-g-grandfather Joseph Hill Coulter had a son named Horace Parshall Coulter. Joseph was a printer and a Cumberland Presbyterian minister in Lebanon, Ohio, and St. Louis Missouri. I descend from his son William Francis (Frank) who worked for Joseph Pullitzer in St. Louis and in New York, after Pullitzer founded the New York World. Would like to exchange information.

My descent is from John COULTER of Co. Tyrone, who married a CULBERTSON, thru William (1783-1865), Robert (1812-80), Matilda (1847-1924), Frank Roy STUART (1866-1936) and my father Nevil Frank (1913-68). William COULTER had a brother John, said to have emigrated to USA in 1820 and been lost to William's sight. Brian Umbarger has posted an enormous genealogy on Ancestry World Tree claiming descendants of the younger John, who was apparently born in Adams Co. Pennsylvania in 1780, including a son Joseph Hill COULTER (1816-81).
My question to Jane Peyrouse, descendant of Joseph Hill Coulter: what is the evidence for the parentage of John COULTER born 1780?

I have no evidence, but three bits of information: 1, John Coulter was born 20 Jan 1780, his wife b.19 Mar 1789, and they married 26 Jan 1808 in Merrittstown, Fayette County, Pa. I just tried to confirm any one of these through US Genweb and had no luck. I hope you can do better!

Cyrenius Newton Coulter was born 15 June 1839 in Richland, Ohio. I do not know when or where he died.

He was married to Eliza Jane Wilson, born about 29 Jun 1835, in Washington, Pennsylvania. Eliza Jane Wilson died 25 Sep 1899 in Central Lake, Antrim, Michigan. Eliza Jane Wilson was the daughter of William Haney Wilson and Margaret Ann McComb, of Pennsylvania.

Cyrenius and Eliza Coulter had at least 8 children. The line of decendancy that I am researching is from their son, William Melzar Coulter, born 14 Oct 1855 in Richland, Ohio.

William Melzar Coulter married Jessie R. Bagley (or Bagby) on 31 Dec 1876. Jessie Bagley (Bagby) was born 3 Dec 1857 in San Diego, San Diego, California. Jessie died 21 May, 1938, probably in Michigan. Nothing else is known about Jessie R. Bagley (Bagby).

William Melzar and Jessie R. had at least one daughter, Lillian Myrtle Coulter, born 28 Jun 1881 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Lillian Myrtle died about 1981 in San Diego, San Diego, California.

Lillian Myrtle Coulter married William Christopher Bentley 06 June, 1904, probably in or near Detroit, Michigan.

William Christopher Bentley was born 11 April 1874, presumably in the United States. He died on 28 Feb 1916, in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan.

Lillian Myrtle Coulter and William Christopher Bentley had one son, William Thadeus Bentley, Sr., born 21 Sep 1915, in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan.

William Thadeus Bentley, Sr., was married to Melanie Tschinkowitz about 1945, probably in or near Detroit.

Melanie Tschinkowitz, the daughter of Maria Kollitsch and Valentin Tschinkowitz, was born 8 Mar, 1914 in Hartford, Connecticut.

William Thadeus Bentley, Sr., died 21 Jan, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.

I am looking for any other information on any of these people listed. What I have here is all that I know about them.

Thank you very much!
