Moses Ford Coulter was the son of Jesse Coulter (1768-1795). Jesse died at age 27, at the hands of his father, William Coulter (1750-1795), who was hanged for murder in Sparta, Hancock County, Georgia in 1795. It is said that William's brother was John Coulter, the county sheriff. Their father, John Coulter, also of Hancock county, Georgia died in that same year, 1795.
