I have been informed from Scotland that if John Courts, the immigrant, came to the shores of America in the year of 1635 as an indentured servant of James Neal, then there is very little chance that John Courts was truly descended from the lineage of the Lords of Annandale or the Bruce family, who were one of the most powerful families in Scotland, and the legend that John Courts was raised at Lochmaben CAstle, but in reality John Courts was a servant who worked in the castle or his parents were servants who worked in the Lochmaben CAstle and their son, John started working there and either JOhn or his parents or both wanted a better life for John so he hired out as a servant and came to America for a better life, and when asked about his lineage the story that was told I have this strange feeling was that he was raised at Lochmaben CAstle and descended from the lineage of the Lords of Annandale.
Does anyone have information on this?
Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much,
kitty
