Just got around to reading your messsage from Aug 25 11. Been busy hwer repairing hail damage wind damage etc.

One question abut your stating "YOUR daughter Christine." When did Christine become MY daughter.? Guess we are getting a little long in the tooth or you are having such a problem with you memory. Christine belongs to your husband and she is my neice.

I have had enough of this Ruppart search. You guys can make up your own stories.

Bye

Bill,
I read your last message with interest. Did you read that message to Cheryl? Perhaps you should read it again. I know we're all getting a little long in the tooth but I didn't realize you were having such a bad problem with your eyes. I should tell you that YOUR daughter Christine never called here. So she wouldn't have been able to tell you that we fight daily with serious health issues, or that Melissa's house burned down a few weeks ago and everyone has been tied up making sure that her and the kids get taken care of. OK, I may excuse that.
1. Your brother was born in 1946, not 1945.
2. Ralph died in 1958. I am sure your brother was ALIVE AT THAT TIME.
3. I never said Ralph was a railroad cop. Neither did your brother. As for that story, even you mother told it. She heard it from your father, and repeated it to me. You may have forgotten having lived away from the family for over 40 years, but for a long time your mother and I were friends. We talked about a lot of things.
4.The story about going to the house in Marion was at Ralph's funeral in 1958. Your brother was with Mom Ruppart, Dad and your step-sister Helen. Helen remembers it. Call and ask her. Your brother never knew before then that he had an uncle Gene, but they had words at the door before Eugene slammed the door on him....Eugene, not Gladys. It should be clear that we're talking of two separate instances.
BTW did you talk to your wife? Did she check her FB messages? I left her a message to tell you I would call this week. And yes I do have the Williamson stuff back to 1850's. I promised it to Cousin Gordon first. Regards, Sandy

Bill,
I thought about your last post and technically Sarah Ruppart Covault isn't your guys grt-grandmother, Hannah Heath is. I have lots of information on her and George's brother Ed. I've been wanting to go over and get pictures of Hannah's gravesite. It's only a half hour away but we never seem to head that way when we don't have other things to do. Talk Later, Sandy

My mistake about Irene visiting in the hospital. Mom wrote her name in thefamily tree part as my grandmother and Sarah as my great grand mother. As far as having three wives in a short timemy dad married my mather and she was his 3rd wife. He was only 28. Do you guys know about Walda and Judy our half sisters from dads 2nd Marrage?. I do if you don't.

will contact you late by phone.
Hello Bill,
It's been a long time. I hope everyone is doing well.
Yes I remember something about Dad's birthday being a year off. Something about joining the military. There's nothing I've found that gives the first name of Elmer though, so that is new information. So Dad was Irene's only child? That's good to know but confusing too in regards to Eugene. Actually though, George Heath, had another son prior to Eugene, If Eugene was his son. Fredrick b. Dec. 1909 to George's second wife Delia, I think. Possibly he died young as I could find nothing else. I did not find any children with his first wife Ella. And who he married after Irene divorced him I don't have a clue. Possibly more kids later?...that would be interesting to know. George W. Heath b.Sept. 17, 1881, (in Indiana though, They did not move to West Virginia until the following year)..Irene Heath b.24, Feb.1891,and d.24, Jan. 1917, In Akron. (I have a copy of her death record)so it has to be a later wife that signed your baby book. The interesting part is that George and Irene were married 25, April, 1912 and Eugene was born in Oct, 1913. I have found no explanation for this. But it's odd that such a young man would be divorced from 3 wives in such a short period of time in an era where divorce was so uncommon.
I too have been puzzled about where Dad was during that time period. There were lots of family members nearby though, so it's possible he was with one of them. Also, Irene's father Grant Couts died during this time period and her mother Ella remarried. There was a child listed with her second husband as a step-grandson and it makes more sense for it to be Dad than to be George's child by another woman. I imagine the family may have been upset with George after Irene divorced him. There are probably lots of things we'll never have an explanation for.
We're living in Medina County. We're listed too. Regards, Sandy

Guess who. Just signed up with Ancestry.com. Saw your questions about the family. First:

Dad was born in May of 1916 not 1915 as he thought. Have his birth certificate. His first name at birth was Elmer Laverne Heath. His birth certificate says Irene COUTS Heath did not have any prior children to dad. George Heath says he had another child prior to dad that would be Eugene Harrison Heath 5 Oct 1913. Some one said Irene died in 1925.I have her name in my baby book from 1943 as visiting mom and I in the hospital????. When dad was born (in Akron) they lived at 378 Orleans Ave, Akron. George Heath was an engineer by trade (Trains?) and was born in Blue Field West Virginia. No other info.

I guess Eugene is a half brother. I have the adoption records from the probate court in Marion. Records say the reason for adoption was both parents are dead.??? Two seperate adoptions. Eugene was adopted first on 12 April 1922 after living with the ruppart family since 15 dec 1921 then he was adopted. Dad was adopted on 30 April 1929. I cannot find anything about him for the 8 years after Eugene was adopted.I have the address for the probate court. I requested they open the records for me and the Judge granted it. I also have Ralph K Ruppart's will and death info. The Marion Historical society gave me a one page history on the Ruppart family dated in the 60s . It mentions Eugene as a son but nothing about dad.The family lived at 125 Walnut street at one time.Eugene is now deceased on 22 Feb 2000. Some of his kids are in Cincinatti. Never did conrtact them. John Henry Ruppart also lived there. A civil war vet born 28 Sept 1832. He is listed on vet sites and file a disability claim for benefits for the civil war.He dieed April 6(?)1915 Cancer and Brigts disease.

Have more. My question is where did the name Laverne come from? His name was changed when the Rupparts adopted him so all the time befor he was Homer Heath or maybe William Heath. let me know when you get this or you can call me. I in the phone bopok for Kiowa, Colorado. I can fax from my house. Dad never did talk about being adopted. Said it was none of aour business.

Hope you are well. Bill

Dear Cheryl, are you telling me that William and Eugene are brothers and not cousins? Because Bill b. 23 May 1915, d. June 1975, was my father in law and that's the same story he told his family. Moreover, There's his military records under Heath/Ruppart and the family knew who Ralph and Gladys were and who Eugene was. So they weren't just raised as brothers they actually were? It's the only thing that makes sense. At one point my husband was picked up by a "railroad man" for throwing rocks at a train. The man took him by the scruff of his neck and literally drug him home without asking where the house was. He knocked on the door and told Bill he better take care of his kids and then he left without saying anything else. Dad told him he had just met his grandfather Ralph Ruppart. He was just a little boy and was totally awed. Later, when Ralph died Dad and the family drove down to Marion. Dad was nervous because he hadn't seen his "brother" for many years and when he knocked on the door Eugene slammed the door in his face. Dad never went back nor mentioned it again. Mom and the the other kids were all in the car and saw what happened. Whatever disagreement the family had must have been a doozy for it to go on all those years. All families have disagreements though and the people involved here are all dead so it's probably best to let all that stuff go. Our interest is in the genealogy so if you know anything about George Heath we would love to hear about it. It looks like we both need to find out more on the Heath side. Like I said, my husband's family knew who Ralph, Gladys and Eugene were and when my husband was in martial arts years back he ran into David a few times at tournaments and knew who he was too. I'm surprised you didn't know about Bill. But maybe now we can put the mystery to rest between us? I hope so. We'd like to hear back from you. I'm using this board to reach you because you didn't leave an e-mail address so I couldn't reach you any other way. Please get back in touch with us. Regards, Sandy Ruppart

I haven't been back to this site for a while and I'm adding some information. Irene Couts b. 29 Feb 1891, dtr of U. Grant Couts and Ella Myers, married and divorced George Heath. She died at age 25, 24 Jan 1917. Son William L. was raised by her sister Gladys and her husband Ralph Keho Ruppart. Ralph and Gladys raised a son Eugene b. 5 Oct 1913, d.22 Feb 2000. Ralph was the son ofSarah "Sallie" Maria Ruppart (John H.) and Charles Timeus Jr. ( Possibly of Charles and Sophia Rensch)of Shelby County Ohio. She married 18 Oct 1898 to Joseph Alexander Covault and had several more children. John H Ruppart b. Sept1831 in Ohio is with the family in the 1900 census for Shelby County. In the 1850 census is found Henry Ruppart/Rupert and wife Marriah Snodgrass?, James Snodgrass age 66, wife Elizabeth age 63 are in the household (parents?). Ralph Ruppart died in Marion County Ohio in 1958 where he worked for many years for the railroad. Our main interest is with Irene's husband George Heath. If anyone has any further information we would be very appreciative. Thanks, Sandy Ruppart

Two of the Children of Ulyses "Grant" Couts and Ella Myers were Irene and Gladys. Irene married George Heath. Gladys married Ralph Ruppart. Both couples had a son born a couple of years apart. Does anyone know what happened to George and Irene that their son (b.1915-d.1975) was raised by sister Gladys and her husband Ralph? As all parties are deceased we are hoping someone will have the answer to our riddle. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, SandyR.

Peter Couts/Coutz - Greene County, Pennsylvania

I am trying to get more information on Peter Couts. One of his sons' was Leon(itis) H(amilton?) Coutz who was my 2xgreat grandfather. Leon apparently was born in 1849.

Peter's wife was Martha Ann(ie) (Flowers) Couts/Coutz, she was born somewhere in Pennsylvania, her mother, Elizabeth Flowers was born in 1776 in Maryland. (Martha) Annie Coutz died December 10 1894 in Springhill township in Greene County, PA.

My currant theory is that Peter's father was a Michael Couts (also in Greene County, PA). Michael appears in the 1800 Pennsylvania census, the only Couts in Greene County.

Any confirmation or other information is welcomed and appreciated.

The best I can figure it out is: Charles Couts married Martha Jane Stofer who I think had 10 children. Wm(Brocky) who married Elizabeth Ross. They had 8 children, one of which was my grandfather. He had 6 children with my grandmother but I don't know how many with his second wife.Looking forward to later messages. Lorene

The daughter Eleanor (also seen Nellie) was born 23 September 1806 in New Jersey and came to Ohio with the family in an oxcart about 1817. They settled in Washington Twp., Tuscarawas County, Ohio and Eleanor married Samuel Caldwell in this county 18 June 1835. He died 5 July 1860, and is buried at Pleasant View, Oxford Twp. in Tusc. Co. I don't have her deathdate just now. If I run on to more, I will send it.

Sylvia, I don't know the names of the Sam Caldwell, Jr. children. If they moved to Mi., that explains why I don't find them anymore in the Tusc. Co. records. If I'm ever in touch with Couts' who may have that info, I'll try to get it. Shirley.

Sylvia, Thank you for the names of the children. I also saw the other message you referred to. I have a chart of the 12 children of Wm. Couts and Phobe Chadwell Couts, and the only reference on it to Elenor, as they spelled it was the information I gave you, and then it said they moved west. I have Wm. Couts will, written in 1864, and he died in 1865. It does mention all 12 of his children, but gives no reference as to where they lived. If anything else comes to light, I'll leave a message. Shirley.
