Re: Jacques Couturier m Marie Aumont or Catherine Annenontha Annenontak ?

I wondered if anyone on this thread has a photo of Catherine? I've been doing a lot of reading on her lately. Did you know that Angelina Jolie also traces her ancestry to Catherine Annenontak? Jolie's ancestry descends from Catherine and Jean Durand's son Louis. Mine descends from their daughter Marie.

I'd love more info on Catherine's parents, but have found nothing other than that her father Nicolas was converted to Catholicism by Jesuit missionaries, he was a Chief of the Bear Clan (Huron) and died during a massacre by the Iroquois.

Hi Carl-My name is Sharon and I’ve been researching your family for a few years. I’m doing this for my daughter-in-law who is descended from Alton, your “half-uncle” (don’t think that’s an official term, but it’s the best I can come up with) If I can be of any help with your research let me know. In return, I was wondering if you had any pictures of your grandfather, Leon, or anyone else who would fit into this tree? - Salandwehr@aol.com
Well done! Naming all of Roy Couturier and Helen Lindecker's 12 children is a feat that would give my Mom trouble -- and she was one of them!

Marie Helen Couturier is my mother. She married Ezra Spevak in California and I grew up there, so I didn't get to know very many relatives. Uncle Chuck came to visit once or twice, but I don't remember him well.

I'm just starting to untangle her very large family. If you're still hanging out on this board, maybe we can compare notes.

Teri

I am trying to find out who Prescilla Coutrier's spouse was and if the Coutrier's that lived at Charleston Ward 7 Charleston South Carolina were relatives. I also would like to know who Cupid Coutrier was married to and the names of his parents. I am the Great Great Grand-daughter of Prescilla Coutrier. Prescilla Coutrier and her family lived at Charleston Ward 12 Charleston South Carolina. Prescilla Coutrier and some of her children moved to New York City in the early 1900's. I beleive her husband was deceased when she moved to New York City. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

It was Minnie and new husband Augustus Denoyer that were MIA in 1900. They resurface in 1910:

Philomena "Minnie" Couturier is listed as Elmira 5 MI in the 1870 census, and Almine 15 in the 1880 census for Centerville Twp., at home with her parents Noel and Elmire Gauthier Couturier. Her middle name most likely is Elmire- census enumerators have problems recording French names! Her future husband Benoit Plamondon is still at home with mom and dad in 1880.

Philomena is listed in the Leelanau Cemetery Database as the wife of Benoit Plamondon (1860-1895), but she's buried with her second husband Augustus Denoyer in Traverse City. She had 6 Plamondon children and 5 Denoyer children. Augustus Denoyer had 3 children from his first marriage. I don't find her or Augustus in the 1900 census anywhere in Michigan. In 1910, Minnie and Gustus Denoyer are in Centerville Twp, Leelanau county with kids.

Lyn,
Wow, that really confused me as I had Philomena Couturier listed as wife of Plamandon and Julia Lamie and Elmire (?) listed as wife for Denoyer. between the children and the parentage and the marriage info I had to correct......Trying to re do that and make it all connect took a little thinkin. I really appreciate all your hard work. I also go on the Leelanau cemetery database and have gotten more from that site than any other single site online.
thank you
Denise

Guess I figured it out at some point! Here 'tis:
1. PHILOMENA ALMIRA3 COUTURIER (NOEL2, JOSEPH1) was born 1865 in Centerville Township, Leelanau County, Michigan, and died 1941 in Leelanau County, Michigan. She married (1) BENOIT PLAMONDON November 13, 1882 in Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan, son of NARCISSE PLAMONDON and MADELEINE BLONDEAU. He was born March 24, 1860 in St. Norbert, Artabask County, Canada East (Quebec), Canada, and died May 06, 1895 in Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan. She married (2) AUGUSTUS DENOYER April 08, 1896, son of CAROLUS DENOYER and SOPHIE TRUDEAU. He was born May 26, 1864 in Malone, Franklin County, New York, and died November 30, 1940 in Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan.

Notes for PHILOMENA ALMIRA COUTURIER:
Philomena "Minnie" Couturier is listed as Elmira 5 MI in the 1870 census, and Almine 15 in the 1880 census for Centerville Twp., at home with her parents Noel and Elmire Gauthier Couturier. Her future husband Benoit Plamondon is still at home with mom and dad in 1880. I don't find her or Benoit in the 1900 census for Leland Township; maybe they are living in Centerville Township. Philomena is listed in the Leelanau Cemetery Database as the wife of Benoit Plamondon (1860-1895), but she's buried with her second husband Augustus Denoyer in Traverse City. She had 6 Plamondon children and 5 Denoyer children. Augustus Denoyer had 3 children from his first marriage-.

More About PHILOMENA ALMIRA COUTURIER:
Burial: Oakwood Catholic Cemetery (Old Section), Traverse City, Michigan

More About BENOIT PLAMONDON:
Burial: Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Michigan

More About BENOIT PLAMONDON and PHILOMENA COUTURIER:
Marriage: November 13, 1882, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan

More About AUGUSTUS DENOYER:
Burial: Oakwood Catholic Cemetery (Old Section), Traverse City, Michigan

More About AUGUSTUS DENOYER and PHILOMENA COUTURIER:
Marriage: April 08, 1896
Hello, my father was Joseph M. Couturier he was Margarets' brother and Ulyssis was his father. Joseph died 1995. I really do not remember very much of the Couturier side of the family, however our family remained closed to Ralph & Rosie Couturiers' family. My father Joseph and Betty (Strauss) Couturier had 8 children, Roxanne, Joseph jr, Rhonda, Randy, Pamela, Vicki, Michael and James. I would love to talk to anyone related and find out more about my ancestry.

I've made a bunch of corrections to the first message. The best thing would be for me to send anyone interested a GED file.

Philomena Couturier is listed in the Leelanau Cemetery Database as the wife of Benoit Plamondon b. 1860 d. 1895. Does anyone know whose kid she is? Children of Noel are listed in the various census- she's not there. Dominique's kids are scattered to the winds when he died in 1873. He's not in the 1870 MI census. I suspect that she's his kid, but if so, where is she in 1880? Benoit is still at home with his mom and dad, but Philomena is not listed in the Leland or Centerville Twp. census. There are lots of gaps in the birth order of Dominique's children, so I suspect some kids are not yet identified?
