I was married to Gary and am the mother of his three
children. It's because of them that I'm slowly going
nuts trying to find out anything about this family. we
are from Butler, PA, born and bred. Gary moved to Texas
just a few years before he died. He never knew anything
about his father's family and it always bothered him. He
died just before his 39th birthday - a fact that has
been very difficult for my sons to deal with. I want to
give my sons and my daughter their ancestry, their past
and hopefully an easier future. if you could please give me some ideas, I would deeply appreciate it. My email address is kvcovert@yahoo.com.this would make them and the nine
grandchildren Gary never knew very happy
I now have proof that Anna Covert, my gtgt-grandmother, was NOT the dau. of Bergun Covert and Anna Housel. My Anna married David Bailey in 1822 and moved to Niagara Co., N.Y. Bergun and Anna's daughter Anna, born about the same time, was still single when her father's land was sold. He died in 1839; his land was sold the following year. The deed clearly describes her as "Anna Covert of Covert, N.Y." She is listed in the 1850 & 1860 censuses as Anna Covert of Ovid, N.Y.

I have some items on my tree which includes some pictures...more to come..Since my Grandfather's name is unusual..I think Scottish Sur names..I am wondering if anyone else has this particular name...should be family names...traced to a Daniel W...wondering if it is Woodburn or William..I know one of his brothers was a William Beach...seems like middle names used to trace families...my tree: sherianholdsworthepstein..
Thanks for any help you may have...
Sherian

Born 1872 and died in Modesto, CA 1927 was widowed on the 1910 Census. Husband's name John Flynn with children: Mary, Olive,Thomas, and Nellie per 1900 Census

There is conflicting data on a second husband following a possible death, divorce, incarceration or MIA of John Flynn while living in Kansas. Or, Minerva retook her maiden name or remarried. In 1920' Census Minerva's surname is Covert along with two additional children listed as Nellie and John Covert (aka John Flynn, Jr 1902- 1981).

Minnie is likely the child of J.L. Covert and Mary (maiden name unknown).

I am trying to discover what happened to John Flynn, SR who would be my grandfather, or possibly my last name is not Flynn, but Covert.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Orren (Aaron) Covert 1803/1805/1816 NY

Looking for information on Orren (Aaron) Covert. He was the father of Alonzo Covert (born 1842 in PA) of Greenup Co., KY. I have seen several references to his Date/place of birth- 1803 KY, 1805 VA, 1816 NY. They are all the same person giving the info- that is obvious from place of residence and family members in the household.

I cannot find a reference to his date of death. The common date of his death posted on most family trees is 8 July 1910 Scipio, Meigs, Ohio- listed as George Orren Covert. THIS IS INCORRECT. The George Orren Covert that died at that time was the 1 year old child of Charles and Hattie (Nelson) Covert.

Orren is last seen in the 1880 Census with 2nd wife Lucinda in Greenup, KY. I have found 1870 census for him, as well as the 1860 that lists his name as Aaron Cover. Both are in Greenup. His first wife was Matilda Ann Cole, however I have found no record of her marriage or death except that their son Orrin Franklin Covert's death certificate lists her as mother. In the 1860 census there is an 11 year gap between the 2 youngest children. All of the older children are born in PA. Therefore I am assuming that Matilda passed away in the very late 1840's- Possibly during childbirth. The Hewitt Cemetery of Rices Landing, Greene County, PA lists an Infant Covert (no dates)in section 5-1 with Covert's and a Matilda Cole (no dates)in section 5-2 with Denny's. It is possible that Orren and Matilda never married, but it seems very unlikely.

Any info you can pass along on either Orren or Matilda would be greatly appreciated.

Children of Orren and Matilda:
ages given in 1860 census
(probably off by at least 1-2 years- Alonzo consistently gave May 1842 as his D.O.B)
Elvira Cover	18
Alonzo Cover	16
Sophronia Cover	14
Franklin Cover	12 (Orrin F.)

Going thru old files and found you. Bishopric of Cuvert in France way before Holland. Only reference I have. Can go to Holland about 1621, but before not sure. Clan left France in time of Elizabeth I, They were Huegenots so she kicked them out. Then they went to Holland, but not certain as to dates.Sorry this took so long, but got it round-about thru Allan Kaufmann in Manassas, VA. Good luck. I've been chasing our bunch since 1959 and haven't got it all, yet.
Wally Covert northish from Pittsburgh.

I am looking for any information about Walter COVERT, born in Canada and lived in both Illinois and Texas. I believe that his father's name was Ashley and he also had two brothers Clarence and Fred.

He married Bertha BRADY in Illinois, and they had two sons, Fred and Joel - Joel is my grandfather. From what my grandfather knew, his father left and was a contortionist???

I have hit a brick wall in my research for Walter...with my last lead being in Texas.

Any information would be wonderful.
I am also researching this Philip M. S. Covert who married Mary Ann Bowes! I think his name might have been Philip Marcus Sinclair Covert. He was first married to Ellen McFadden, who was from Louisiana. After Ellen died, I find that Philip enlisted in the Union army in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, see below for details.

2nd Pennsylvania Cavalry, Company C, Recruited at Philadelphia. Name Covert, Philip M. S.; Rank: Private; Date of Muster Into Service: February 15, 1865; Term/Years: 1; Remarks: Transferred to Company C, 1st Provisional Cavalry, June 17, 1865. http://www.pa-roots.com/pacw/cavalry/2dcav/2dcavcoc.html

--------
Please reply to this message, as I have more info to share.

I am married to a Lefebvre. This family has traced their roots to Bacardie France and back to the very early 1600s. In looking at the material they have provided me, I found a marraige of a Lefebvre to a Covert in France in the early 16oos. I have written for more proof of this marriage. I am very interested in who these Coverts are, and where they went from France. I will update or someone else update on this if you know anything PLEASE!!

Well, I believe a lot of folks are trying to connect to those earliest known Coverts. However, I know of Covert researchers who have not been able to connect to that line. I also see other Coverts who arrived in the 1800's. So I guess not all the Coverts here are related directly to that first line.

I thought the New Amsterdam line, actually migrated to Holland to avoid religious prosecution and that not all the children left with the parents to come to North America at that time.

Does anyone know if the original father of the New Amsterdam Coverts had any siblings? Were the Coverts who migrated in the 1800's related to the children who remained behind?

Peter Abraham Covert of Seneca County NY

P. A. Covert died 6 Sept 1828 in Ovid, Seneca, NY. Would like to know his spouse's and childrens names and other vitals about him--DOB/place, etc. His father's name and vitals would be a real PLUS. And the grand prize--What is his connection to Teunis Janse Covert, if any?
Please reply to Phil, rppahl@yahoo.com

Abraham Covert Cemetery in Ovid

For anyone interested, a local boy (Micah Polk) has just cleaned up the Abraham Covert Cemetery ( Abram Covert ) in Ovid, NY as his Eagle Scout Project. If anyone were interested in going to visit this would be a good time.

There are nearly 90 people buried in the cemetery - which is often considered inaccessible. Great progress has been made. Here is a list - not perfect - of those thought to be in the cemetery.

The Cemetery Census
Transcribed from Some Cemeteries Between The Lakes

John Simpson 7 Jan 1874 ae 34
Augustus L. Covert son of David and Ann 10 Oct 1840 - 9 Nov 1857 (Liddell)
Ann Covert wife of David Jan 1801 - May 1864 (d/o Abraham and Mary Covert VanDoren)
Frank Van Horn son of James and Caroline 3 July 1857 ae 2
John Wyckoff son of Cornelius and Mary Ann 15 Oct 1850 ae 2
Elizabeth Eastman wife of Sanford 18 March 1848 ae 25
Peter Van Zant Soldier Revolution under Gen Wayne 3 Aug 1833 ae 93
Eliza Van Zant wife of Peter 9 Nov 1842 ae 85 née Covert
Thomas Covert Soldier of the Revolution April 1846 ae 96
Henry P.
