I am hoping to hear from any descendants of WILLIAM M. CAZADD, b. 1816 in Christian Co., KY, the son of JOSEPH COZART/COZAD and ELIZABETH HARGIS. According to the Rootsweb File of Faith Cozadd, Joseph gave each of his 14 or 15 children "various spellings of the surname." Apparently, William was the only "Cozadd."
Joseph and his 2nd wife MARY MUSETT moved from Gallatin Co., to Waterford, Fulton Co., IL, but I can only first find "WM CAZADD" and his wife "MARTHA J."in Long Prairie, Wayne Co., IL in 1860. William and Martha disappear in 1870 but resurface in 1880, Mt. Erie, Wayne Co., IL. In the 1881 Wayne Co. Business Directory "W M CAZADD" is listed as "Undertaker & Cabinet Maker." There are probably others, but their known surviving children from these two censuses are:

IDA CAZADD, b. abt. 1871-d. 1890, m. IRA WALLACE TATMAN. George SECOND m. GEORGIA A. JACKSON abt. 1873. Their children are: 1. WILLIAM J. CAZADD, b. 1877, who m. LURA COON abt. 1897 and ETHEL LOWE in 1908. Descendants: TEACHENOR; COOK. 2. LUTHER S. CAZADD, b. 1878-d. 1954, Sacramento, CA, m. MARY ADELINE DALY bt. 1914. Descendants: COMENZIND; DEASQUITH; NASCIMENTO. 3. WALTER DEWITT CAZADD, b. 1885-D. 1978, Gary, Lake Co., IN, m. IDA DEUSTER in 1914.
(2) MARGARET A. CAZADD, b. abt. 1846.
(3) JOSEPH S. CAZADD, b. abt. 1853.
(4) OLLA F. CAZADD, b. abt. 1869, m. LOUIS J. BETHEL
abt. 1878, dau IDA MAY BETHEL B. 1879.
(5) ELLA S. CAZADD, b. abt. 1864.

From what I have found, most descendants with the "Cazadd" spelling of the name seem to stem from this extended family found in Gallatin, Fulton, Wayne, Clay and Crawford Counties, IL.
