Have you learned anything else about William H Craig and Jane Cox? Their son Warren is my husbands GGG Grandfather.
Warren's Montana pioneer application states he's from Sullivan, NY (formerly part of Ulster, NY bordering NE PA). There are Craigs, Coxes/Cox's and Hortons in a Sullivan County mid 1800's Gazeteer directory which is after they moved West. William H's two younger brothers married Mapes sisters/who were born in Montague,Sussex County, NJ around 1820. Sussex borders Warren County NJ. Warren is adjacent to Hunterdon and Bucks. Could they be tied to the Hunterdon/Monmouth NJ Craigs? Warren's descendants include John, James, William, Archibald, Samuel, similar to the Hunterdon/Monmouth Craigs who moved to PA. The Mapes married the Craig brothers In Tunkhannock and Eaton/Wyoming PA (or Easton/Northampton?PA). The Mapes were carriage mfg's out of NYC who advertised in the Sullivan County Gazeteer. Also, I have news abstracts 1798-1810 for the sale of William Craigs estate and an article on the Horton's grist mill burning down listed directly after the sale abstract. I've located a Sarah Horton born 1786 in Tunkhannock/Kingston PA whose family came from NY. A Tench Coxe article is mentioned. The Wilkes Barre news abstract lists their towns as Tunkhannock/Kingston PA. The PA/NJ/NY places seem to be in the same region.
