Hi I'm new to Ancestry.com and am trying to become a member of the Mayflower Society. I have the family tree linking my husband to James Chilton. Are you a member of the Mayflower Society. I need Hendrick Crannell's baptism record to prove that he is the son of William Winslow Crannell, the great grandson of James Chilton. Do where I can find that baptismal record.

Crannel, Crannell, Cranell, Cranel (Isaac Crannell)

I found a burial record for Jose Ysac De Jesus Crannell, who was buried 21 Mar 1837 in Durango, Durango, Mexico in the Sagrario Metropolitano Cathedral. The record says he was age 39, born in the USA, baptised in Durango the year before. So his name may have been Isaac Crannell. The source of this is in the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints collection of Mexico, Catholic Church Records; Durango; Durango; Sagrario Metropolitano, Burials 1836 - 1836, image 113. Contact me for more information.

Nathan Crannell married to Mary Abigail Holden

I am researching the Crannell family for my employer who is applying to the Society of Mayflower Descendants. His ancestral line is as follows:

1. James Chilton
2. Mary Chilton m. John Winslow
3. Joseph Winslow m. Sarah Lawrence
4. Mary Winslow m. Robert Crannell
5. William Winslow Crannell m. Margarita Bennoit
6. Hendrick Crannell m. Jacomyntie Bloemendael
7. Robert Crannell m. Polly Selleck
8. Nathan Crannell m. Mary Abigail Holden
9. Almeron Holden Crannell m. Martha Evans (divorced Martha in 1891) THEN married Laura J. Rice
10.Walter Leverne Crannell m. Bertha Luther

I need to provide the Society of Mayflower Desdendants with proof of birth/marriage/death for all of the above beginning with William Winslow Crannell and Margarita Bennoit down to Walter Leverne Crannell. Any info anyone might have would be helpful. Thank you

This is what I have....it is bascially the same as "The Crannells in America" book. The book, however, did not show my ggg grandfather Anson which I have documentation that shows he was a son of Nathan.
Generation #1
William Crannell, born in Devonshire, England. His son was Robert Crannell, born in 1670 in Devonshire, England.
Generation #2
Robert Crannell married Mary "Molly" Winslow in 1693. Molly was born 9-25-1674; she died in NYC,NY. She was the daughter of Josiah Winslow and Sarah Wensley.
The children of Robert & Molly were:
1. William Winslow Crannell b.1703 in NYC, NY d. 1757 in Albany, NY.
2. Robert Crannell, Jr.
Generation #3
William Winslow Crannell married Margarita Bennoit on 6-4-1726. Maragrita was born 8-16-1702 in Albany, NY, died 10/22/1758 in Albany, NY. She was the daughter of Pierre Bennoit & Henderkie Van Shoonhover.
The Children of William & Margarita were:
1. Hendrick Crannell, b. 1740 d. 1823
2. Robert Crannell, b. 7-10-1726
3. Petrus Crannell, b. 2-10-1727 d. very young
4. Petrus Crannell b. 1-9-1732
5. William Winslow, II b. 1-28-1739
Generation #4
Hendrick Crannell married Jacomyntie Blomedael. She died in 1823.
The Child of Hendrick & Jacomyntie was:
1. Robert Crannell, b. 7-14-1776 in Albany, NY d. 7-5-1855 in Queensbury, NY.
Generation #5

Robert Crannell married Polly Selleck in 1809 in Queensbury, NY. Polly was born 11-27-1795 in Queensbury, NY.
She died on 6-15-1865. She is buried in the Hartman Hill Cemetery, Lake Luzerne, NY.
My descendants are William Crannell born Dec. 21, 1765 married Catherine Valentine born October 14, 1772.They had children Elizabeth, Jamima Rabecka, John, Margret, May Henry, looks like Hty & Lecar or Levar. Family Bible pages are alittle hard to read in spots. Elizabeth married Abram Hogle. Seems like they are from Greenbush, NY, near Albany, NY. If you have any information on these Crannell or about book on Crannells I would appreciate any help.

I am a descendant of William Crannell born Dec. 21, 1765 and died Dec. 15 1821. I have found that much of the family was born, married, and died in Greenbush, NY which is just outside of Albany. I have found a listing for William Winslow Crannell buried in the Albany Rural Cemetery and wonder if he is my gggg grandfather or related in some way. If you have any info of WWC or his descendants I would appreciate any help. Thank you, B. Maloney

Isaac Crannell is also my GG Grandfather. His daughter Mary is my Great grandmother. She married Charles Utter. On researching at the local library, their records indicate that in the 1875 census Isaac was listed as being 45 and was a blacksmith. Susan was listed as being 35. I am sort of at a standstill there. If you have more information you would like to share, my e-mail address is leapinliz77@hotmail.com.
Nancy,
You didn't post your e-mail address so I will give you what information I have. I found this information at the library in the census card files. Mary Crannell's father was Isaac Crannell b. 1830 d. 4/10/106, mother was Susan Clark b. 1840 d. 9/27/1926. Sibblings were William b. 1866, Eugene b. 1872 and Daniel b. 1875 and Susie b. 1879 with Mary being b. 1869. Mary married Charles Utter b. 1868. Based on an obituary I have Mary and Charles had children, one being Jessie (my grandmother) b. 1897, d. 5/26/1962. Jessie was married to my grandfather Hiram Pittsley b. 1887 d. 6/21/1956. The funeral notice shows Jessie had a sister named Charlotte Utter Dodge, and a sister named Lena Utter, never married. Jessie had two children, Charlotte Pittsley b. 1928, d. 2/3/1966 and James E. Pittsley Sr. b 11/27/1924 d. 11/13/1990 (my father). There is more if you want, e-mail me and I can give you more of the more recent stuff.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

I found Sarah C. (Helm) Crandell, with her mother Cynthia or Emily Helm, I am not sure which is her mother. in Algelica, Allegany Co. New York. She is just 1 month old. in 1850. They are living just down the street from Cornelius and Sarah Helm. I believe these are her Grandparents. I have learned that her middle name is Cornelia.
I am told by family that her husbands name is Wallace M. Crandell. I have not found him anywhere and I only know that he was born in New York. I assume that they may be from the same town, but who can tell. people moved so much in those days. Thanks for your help this part of the family is filled with brick walls, though I have found quite a bit in the last year. The trail just seems to stop with each generation. Betty

Hi, thanks for answering. I have since found a bit more information on the Crandells. I know now it is not spelled Crannell and that Sarah was Winnie's mother. I have found the family in quite a few census records. I have even found Sarah with her mother in New York. I still don't know her fathers name except for what family has told me. I had thought we might have the wrong spelling. I try to keep an open mind about these things, especially where the census is concerned. Thanks again, happy searching, Betty

Saw your message of last November regarding the Crannell's. I'm guessing you have the history that traces the family to the Mayflower, right?

John D. Crannell was the son of Robert Crannell
Robert was the son of Hendrick Crannell
Hendrick was the son of William Winslow Crannell
William was the son of Robert Crannell and Mary Winslow
Mary was the son of Joseph Winslow
Joseph was the son of John Winslow and Mary Chilton
Mary Chilton was the first woman to set foot on Plymouth Rock
Her parents James Chilton and Susanna Furner were also aboard
the Mayflower and died the first winter.

I think every Crannell and relation on the planet has this history, but if not, I'd be glad to fill in the dates as best I can.

My real project is tracing the Crannell's back to England. I've seen references to the name as far back as the 1650's but haven't done any real work on it yet.

Regards
Wayne Crannell

Well, the person to contact for the entire Crannell history to 1620 is...

William (Bill) Crannell
11 Laurel Drive
Delmar, NY 12054

I haven't heard from him in almost five years since he sent my Mother our portion of the family history, and I've only recently started looking into it. He was getting on in years then, and I honestly don't know if he is still alive. The problem was he sent only the parts that pertained to me directly, and there were a million Crannells back then so the branches are endless. (My grandfather was one of ten and had four himself!)

I'll get together a more detailed list of what I have and forward it to you.

Regards,
Wayne Crannell

I'd like to fill in some details about my gr.grandmother and gr. grandfather. Her name was Mary Healy Tolly and his was Peter Tolly. Their daughter Emma was my grandmother. Based on the birth date of my grandmother (1890), I'm guessing that their parents were born somewhere around 1860-70. I find no useful entries for Peter or Mary, and Emma is only listed in SS records.
