Yes, looks like this was one of those occurances where all were related/connected. Sorry, but I know nothing about the Crain family involved. Thanks for the link. I will see if I can "squeeze out" any crumbs related to my husband's lines that are so numerous in the Hill Country of Texas.

Patsy

Hello! Not sure if anyone still checks these-- I am researching Rafael/ Ralph Crain. Joh Hayes Crain married Nellie Elnora Cravey. Ralph Crain was married to Ellen Wallace Estes. Does anyone have links to the newspaper article? I seem to have read somewhere that he was shot breaking up a fight. His only son was John-- But I did find that he spent some time in jail-- about 1880 (lived with a sheriff and was listed as a prosoner. Any info on Rafael Crain would be greatly appreciated! I did look at my records to see if Tolithey Jeffries's maiden name might have been Cravey, but such was not the case.

Just came across your posted message regarding your Mother wanting to connect with her Mother's family--Amos Reed Cravy and Sarah Gregory. My Mother is one of the four daughters that was given up for adoption by Amos shortly after Sarah died. My Mom was one of the twins. Your message was posted in 2006 so I hope you get my response. Please respond to this post so that I will know you are still an active member. I very much would like to share information with you.

Molly Cravy-England is the gg-grandmother of my husband Clyde England. Molly was married to Bent England in Texas in the Late 1800's. Molly is the daughter of Mary Phillips and Henry Cravy, they also had a son Robert. That is all I know Molly died when my husband grandfather was a little boy. Bill died about 5 years ago. I do know some of Molly's boys name Claude (who is the grandfather to my husband) Robert, Bill, Hollice, Daughters Ona and Para. I found them in the 1900 census in Stephen county Texas.

My name is Rhonda Sharp. My mother-in-law is Sarah Margaret Cravy Sharp (1927), daughter of Joseph Henry Cravy (1892-1979). I went to San Saba to check on some records. Clerk mentioned that people didn't always pick up marriage license after recording. We located two originals. The clerk gave me the originals. One was for Henry C Cravy to Miss Mary S Smith dated 13 Oct 1886. The second was for C F Dyers and Mrs. Mary Cravy on 13 Oct 1886. Our cousin, Sue Cravy, told me that Mary was Robert C's mother. Well, I would almost bet that they met in San Saba to finalize divorce and married while their new respective partners while they were there. I did not check the divorce records while I was there. I do intend to do that next time.

Anyway, the docs are attached to Henry C and Mary Phillips on my really mixed up tree online. My tree is Cravy Family Tree and my user name is strickemlightly. I will happily
e-mail the docs to anyone who needs them. My e-mail address is strickemlightly@hughes.net Oops, I didn't know you could attach records. See attached records.

So it's an interesting family to say the least.

Rhonda Sharp
I don't know where the name Frank came from. Henry Clay CRAVEY/CRAVY md Mary PHILLIPS abt 1868 probably in Shelby Co., TX. The records of Shelby were burned 1898, so no marriage record available. Henry did have 2 known children by Mary Phillips: Robert C. b. Mar 1869 and Mary "Mollie b. abt. 1874 that married Bent England. The only census I have found them on is 1900 Stephens Co., TX. I don't know of any Indian blood in the CRAVEY line going all the way back to 1720.

John C.
