Our g-g-grandfather was Wallace A Chaudoin. His mother was Mary Jane Creasman (Crissmon, Chrisman) She appeared as a 5 yr old on 1840 census in Monroe Co Tn with Wallace A Creasman and wife Biddy Scrimsher. Wallace Creasman was shown as born in NC and he served in military during the military removal, with 2 other Creasmans (I believe one was named Adam). Wallace was born 5/1819 in NC and died 5/10/1839 Monroe Co Tn. Mary Jane was born 1834 in Tn (based on 1840 census info) and died in Texas, we don't know where or when. Our problem is determing who Mary Jane's parents were. Biddy never had children with Wallace but he remarried after her death and had children. They moved to Lavaca Co Texas. Has the name Wallace Alexander Creasman appeared in any of your searching or Mary Jane?

Our gggrandmother was Mary Jane Creasman, in HH of Wallace A Creasman in 1840 in Tn. There were 3 Creasman men who served in the military during the Indian removal, John, Adam and Wallace. They enlisted in NC I believe. Orah Creasman may have been a relative to one of these Creasman men.

We have no information on Wallace A Creasman or Mary Jane Creasman. The first record we have of Wallace was the military rolls where he signed up for the Cherokee Wars in Buncombe Co. The next is his marriage certificate to Biddy Scrimsher in Monroe Co Tn then the 1840 census as head of household in Monroe Co. We know they moved to Lavaca Co Texas and there are records from that time onward. He had a sister named Mary who married an Earwood, Irwood, Yearwood and died shortly after delivering a son, Edward. Edward was taken in by Wallace and Biddy and they raised him. We are looking for information on who Wallace' parents were, was Mary Jane a relative to Wallace or Biddy or neither, just took her in. A real mystery.

ms. stroupe has said that the only connection was the tax records of the original farm in the "virginia" . In 1790 the changes of adam and conrad's families appearing in davidson county "with misspelling"; the two other brothers appearing in Kentucky and their father's death and the abscence of their listing on original tax records. she stressed the importance of spouse and children to postively identify the family group. Adam and conrad were in davidson county with a group of Dunkerds settling the area. A great deal of the work was from a descendent of one of the kentucky siblings. but he has since passed away. i am like you in that i believe the corruption of the spelling is a major factor in further research sucess. good luck, WJC

I have an Orie Minerva Creasman, who married Daniel Cordell, no dates are known. They had a daughter Ellen M., 1869-1953, who married Elisha Mitchell Reed. Does this help you in any way? Do you have any information on Orie?

Thanks for your help.

Danley M.
I have a Henry Griggs b. 1810 whose parents were Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Fowler). My info is that there were 3 daughters born to Henry and his (fnu/lnu) wife. I'm not researching the Griggs line but this information was in with information on my line. If you can fill me in on some of your info you've gleaned, maybe I can help fill in some gaps for you from what I have. As I mentioned, I'm not researching Griggs but want to know if this is your line. Celia

Adam, born in 1790, was the son of Adam and Jane Reel, not the grandson. He died in McMinn County, TN (not McMinnville - a common mistake by people who do not live in TN and even some who do.) after 1850. This date is confirmed by the fact that he appears in the 1850 census. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at mrvica@usit.net.

Have you discovered any further documentation to substantuate the information on Phillip and Jacob Christmann? I have seen another posting (undocumentated) showing Adam's father as Conrad Crissman. This spelling has some verrification in that Conrad Jr. shows up in the 1790 census as Conrad Cressema(n). The early spellings are certainly confusing. If we could find a paper trail back from Adam Sr, we could no doubt resolve a lot of questions. I have a very good trail back to Adam Sr. through my Grandfather (Samuel R.) and Great Grandfather's (Joseph H.) family Bibles. I am really working to get past Adam Sr.

I'm looking for information on Lorenzo A. Creasman (spelled Crisman on the 1850 census) prior to 1850. At that point he was living in Buncombe County, NC with his wife Eliza. I haven't been able to track him down prior to that point. I'd appreciate any information.

My grandmother's oldest sister was Minnie B Creasman. And I have her birthday listed as 11/14 (from my grandmother's notes). Their father was Zebulon Creasman of Buncombe Co, NC. The only questionable area is the year, on the census, this Minnie B is listed as born in 1884, but I noticed that her age had been crossed out and changed from 17 to 15, so there could have been a mistake.

If you think this is her, I can give you all the info I have.

They had my Grandfather(their only child). They divorced some time around 1920 and he married a lady named Lizzie and moved to California. I have a copy of Claudes social security application. He was born in 1882 in Owenby Buncombe Co., N.C. Henry Merrit his father was born in 1850 but I have nothinbg else on this family. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
