I think I may have found your Nelson CREELY in some family papers of mine. Nelson CREELY Jr b. 26 Sep 1844 d. 6 Dec 1908 married Mary ANTRIM 1877. His siblings included LydiAnn (b. 1836, Amos (b. 1840),and Samuel Hancock (b. 1849 and married to Julia LIPPINCOTT). If this is the correct Nelson, please drop me an email. I have more information.

Thanks for your response. Do you have dates on John O. and your Robert? My great great grandfather, Robert Creely (sometimes spelled Creilly) married Mildred Dandridge in Lawrence County, Alabama in 1841 and this as far back as I can get with him. It is like he just "appeared" there. My great grandfather was James Lewis (Jimmie) Creely and my grandfather was Norman Jones Creely. My father is 80 and is still living.
The more Creely males that participate in the DNA testing, the better chance we have of making connections.
Let me know if you are interested in the DNA connections. I have upgraded my father's test to the Y46 in hopes of a closer relative matching up but so far no Creelys. I assume none have entered the testing pool.
I live in Itawamba County, Mississippi. Where are you from?
Natalie

Hi Natalie,

My grandfather was Robert Creely, His father was a John O. Creely. That is where our trail runs dry. We know they migrated from the East Coast. We know that John O. Creely was a traveling salesman. We also know that he was with my grandfather's mother for less than ten years and that they had 4 boys together.
As far as a DNA on the creely side - I am not sure. Will have to research.
Karen

My great-great grandfather was Robert Creely. He arrived in
what is now Lee County, Mississippi around 1848 and purchased land which remains in the Creely family. I know that he had a son named Robert Creely (may be your grandfather).
I recently had my father, 80 years old, send in the DNA test to Ancestry.com. Has any male in your family chosen
to do this? The more people that participate the better the
chances of finding a common ancester. Let me know if you are interested.

Natalie

Hilda L (CREELY) Burlington, NJ family

I am looking for a connection with the LINCOLN family in Burlington, NJ and I believe that the Hilda L that married Ashbrook LINCOLN is Hilda L CREELY b.12 Oct 1915 in Burlington, dau of Nelson and Alice S. CREELY.
Nelson (married, then with family) shows in the 1910-1930 Census in Burlington. In 1900, also in Burlington, he is with his parents and Family: Samuel H and Julia H (LIPPINCOTT) CREELY, just down the street from Samuel's brother and his namesake Nelson P and Mary CREELY.
While Nelson was born in NJ, Samuel and Nelson P and Amos too, were born in PA in the mid to late 1840s but I can't find them.
Any help with any of this would be appreciated, particularly the LINCOLN/CREELY connection part.

Hey, this does sound familiar to me. I was working on a senior geneaology project, and I found Mary Creely. She was definitely married to David Wylds (I have him born 10.12.1793). She was born in 1808 too. My relation to Mary is through her daughter, Amelia Wylds. Amelia married John R. Lamb. Hope this helps. If you have any interesting information on Mary or her family, I would be pleased to learn it. Thanks.

Hi Dorothy,
I have also seen the info that Jane was first married to a Mr. Creeley. I have surmised, but found no proof, that she was either married to Isaac or William. The families were living in the same general area and had other marriages. William was killed in the war, Isaac disappered during that time frame and was probably killed as well. The only other option for Isaac is that he began using a different last name after the war. I've searched high and low for info on both these boys, to no avail.
Tamara

She is with parents on the 1850 & 1860 Van Buren TN census.
I have found no proof of any marriage for her.

Hi Nancy,
I'm pretty sure Isabel Creely is related to my Crelia family but lack documented proof of that fact.
My GGG Grandfather, James T. Creeley was first found in White Co., TN on the 1812 tax list. He married Levicey Webb and had children James Francis Marion Creeley, Angeline, Isaac, William, Sion C. and Margaret Cecelia 'Cassie' Creeley. His sons Isaac and William went to the war in 1861 and never returned. James F.M. and Sion C. ended up in Texas spelling the name Crelia.
I believe the following are all related to James T. Creeley -- Sarah Creeley b. 1788 who married Joseph Haston; Creeley, Polly marr. Smith, Joseph on 17-Jun-1800; and Creely, Isabel marr. Stickley, Christian on 05-Oct-1802 in Knox Co. TN (This should be Christopher Steakley). Also living near them was Pruitt, Isaac who marr. Stickley, Polly on 25-Mar-1803. These families were all neighbors later in White Co., TN.
One of Sarah Creeley Haston's grandsons who fought in the civil war and filled out a Tenn. Veterans Questionnaire said that Sarah came from Germany. Of course he was about 90 when he answered the question - so that may or may not be correct.
I have never had any luck finding their parents, but I have several theories. Let me know if you'd like to hear them.
Tamara
Parents of Susan Creely I know of were Amos and Ann Sippings of York, Pa.--no birth year but, yours could apply. Other sibblings were Michael Hancock, who married Mary Firing Powell; Anna Taylor:b. 1824-Dec, 10; d. 1905-Sep, 29; m. toDavid F. Bond-b. 1822-Mar, 17; d. 1903-Feb, 07; Mary Elizabeth: b. 1828; d.1891-Mar, 17--m.1845-Sep, 01 to Charles W. Coventree. Later to a Dr. Pulling of NYC, NY. No knowledge of other sibblings, 11 in all, as far as I know. The Creely's moved to Florence, NJ & then to Burlington, NJ. Seven generations of Creely have lived at the family farm on Mr. Holly Rd.in Burlington since 1698. Hope this helps. You may contact me directly.
She was born January 23, 1808 in Tennessee and died November 10, 1874 and is buried in the Wylds cemetary on property previously owned by her husband. I think they were married about 1825 and in Arkansas. If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me.

I would appreciate any help tracing my ancestor Richard Creely (he signed his name Richard Crealy and Richard Creeley on marriage and church records). Family legend says that he came from Northern Ireland. He came to New Orleans in 1861 and married Ann Coleman (County Roscommon). Our family has lived in New Orleans since then.
