Phistomena (or Phistomena) Cremona - born c1866 Malta

I have a copy of the marriage certificate of Phistomena Cremona of Malta to Thomas Kelly, a Sergeant in the Manchester Regiment. The marriage took place at Cottonera on 5th August 1882. Phistomena is recorded as being 16, a servant, daughter of Francis Cremona, a labourer. I believe they then moved on to India with his Regiment. Does anyone out there know anything about this couple who I believe may be great grandparents of mine?

message to Donna Cremona

Dear Donna
Is it possible that we may be related? My grandfather died back in the 70's. I haven't got the exact dates but I do know where he is buried so I will Have to take the trip up to the cemetary and find out the exact dates. I was born in 1971 which is around the same time he died. I am also unsure of his 2nd wife's name but she is buried with him so I will try to find out. We still have some relatives in Corfu which my mum and dad discovered when they went over last year. My dad found a shop owned by a Cremona who turned out to be the family of my dad's fathers brother (his uncle). We are now in Wales with family in Malta and Corfu. Where are your family based? Hope to hear from you soon, regards Chrissy

Cremona

Hi, Jennifer Pisani- Donga,
My last name is Cremona as well. My great-grandfather's brother's name was Paul Cremona who was born in Malta, and then moved to Australia after the 2nd World War. He was married to a woman named Maria and they had four children, possibly more. When my grandfather moved to Canada(Vancouver), he came down with his cousin, who was supposed to settle in Toronto. He doesn't remember her real name, only her nick name. They used to call her "Zuzzu". I'm not sure if that is the correct spelling. I hope this helps you in your search. Who knows, we may be related!!!!!

I amd not certain this will help you ar not. Guiseppe appears to be as common as Smith or Jones. However, my grandfather was named Guiseppe Cremona, he was from Cremona, Italy and was married to Rosaria (Sadie) and I believe her maiden name was Morgano. If we are related in some way, please let me know.

I have read your message. I am not certain if we are related or not. My grandfather's name was Guiseppe Cremona, originally from Cremona Italy. He was married to Rosaria Morgana, called Sadie. I am curious if my grandfather and your grandmother were related in some way. It is an unusual name. My Grandfather and grandmother had five surviving children: Josephine, Frances, Angelina, Rosario (my father) and Carl. Please let me know.

Giuseppe Cremona

Hi,
I am not sure if this will help you in your search. My grandmother's maiden name was Cremona. Her fathers name was Paul Cremona. They lived in Malta. I do not know if they came from Italy, but we suspect so. He married Francis Said. They had 7 children that lived (it seems in those days many children died at a very young age). They were definitally in Malta at this point. (About the early 1900's I think - this is 4 generations back) Their children were Victoria, Fortune, Angelo, Corinata, Amanuel, Pippi, and Maria (my grandmother). In the 40's these kids all had kids. My grandmother Maria Cremona married Charles Pisani and had Doris, Joe, John, Francis, Raymond, and Elizabeth. This family moved to Windsor, Ontario, Canada in the 50's with Charles Pisani's brother and his family. My father, John, married June Merryweather and had my brother and sister and myself. I am interested to see if further back than I know of if these families were related (Giuseppe Cremona and Paul Cremona). Keep me posted with any info you may have!
