Classification: Query
Surnames: Ord, Hillcoat
Mary Mercer Ord, a daughter of General E.O.C. Ord, married Frederick Hillcoat in the 1890s. A son was born to the Hillcoats in 1896 and was named Garesche Ord Hillcoat.
Mary Mercer died in 1899. Subsequently Frederick Hillcoat remarried, but he, his second wife, her sister, and Garesche were all murdered in Mexico, in 1918.

Frederick Hillcoat was my gg uncle. The information about his marriage to Mary Mercer Ord and his family’s murder by Mexican bandits has been forwarded to me by the editor of the Brackettville News, Kinney County, Texas. She had found the account of the “Hillcoat Murders” in the “Cresap Society", Vol. 50, No.2, Whole No. 39b.April 1990. Submitted by Bernarr Cresap.

I am posting this in the hope that Bernarr Cresap, or another, will contact me to discuss the Hillcoat/Ord connection.
