Rebecca Cresson

Frank McCatty married a Rebecca Cresson in the USA, PA or NY in 1896. They moved to Jamaica and had a daughter, Edith May McCatty in 1897 and a son, Alexander George McCatty in 1898 or 1899. Edith May McCatty married a man named Bryant and they moved to Australia. I am searching for any information on Rebecca Cresson, probably born around 1898.

Re: Jennie Cresson

Jennie Cresson Luzier was my grandmother. She and my grandfather resided for years in Nutley, NJ. She had 5 children: Cathryn, Evelyn, Wilbur Jr, Robert (My Dad) and John. Wilbur William Luzier died in 1945 and my Grandmother continued to live in Nutley with her unmarried daughter Evelyn until her death around 1963-64. She was born on October 23, 1886 in New York to Philiar Cresson (born 1854 in Broome County,NY) and Mary Catherine Gray (born 1856 in NY). Her father Philiar died 3 months before Jennie's birth at the age of 32. Philiar and Mary Catherine had 5 children: George, Bess, Flo, John and Jennie. That is about all I know at this point. I guess this makes us cousins? Let me know if you have any information on the Cresson family.
Thanks
Linda Luzier Ivy
Do you know if this Isaac is the son of Isaac Harville Cresson/Creason of the Kokomo/Burlington, Indiana, area?
My great great grandfather, Willis Creason, born 1800 supposedly to James and Rachel Creason (8th of their 9 sons) had an older brother Isaac that we do not have information on, and this Isaac could be age appropriate to be my great great uncle as he would have been born 1783-1795.
I know of at least one person who is researching (and descended from) the Kokomo Creasons.
I think the information presented by Andrew Moody when he was "breaking" the will of his father may not have been correct. There are certainly family descendants who think that Rachel Moody Creason was their ancestor. Andrew according to one Moody book did break his father's will, Catherine Shomen Moody was probably his stepmother and he apparently did not want here to have access to Andrew Sr.'s land. Andrew Sr. was probably married to a "margaret" first and she was probably the mother of Andrew Jr., and perhaps others. None of this is proven but info given in this legal tussle may have been to benefit himself--Andrew Jr.

I believe they were born around Preble County, Ohio and moved to the Marion/Grant County/Indiana or Miford/Iroquois County/Illinois. I also think the name was spelled Cresson. His daug. married William Parkes. They had three children. Archibald, Charity and James. Anything familiar?

Wow this is a lot of information. I thank you so much. I have a couple of these names so I guess I can tie this to my family tree. Except the spelling baffles me. All this time every one at this end has spelled it with the two s's. You are right, this can be confusing. I would appreciate your entering the info on your database and let me know if you find anything. My tree finds Isaac Cresson possibly married twice. Wife one is Nancy Parks and wife two might be Sarah Crowell. I know for sure, Issac had a daughter named Sarah Taylor Cresson who married William Parkes (my ggg grandfather) They both were born in Ohio. They moved to Indiana eventually the family moved to Illinois and some of them went to Colorado. The traveling they did is amazing considering the mode of travel at the time isn't it? I am going to try the Creason board in FTM. Thanks for that too. Thanks again.

It's right ! I have no tree about Cresson. I'm more interested by onomastic than genealogy. To know more about the situation of French names. I suggess you to go on my website www.geopatronyme.tm.fr

regards,

Yve

Marilyn, Yves sent me a map of France showing where the Cressons populated. I never received a tree. Is your line from PA?, our settled in Southern Illinois. My great-Grandmother came here when she was 15. She was born in Vendin le Veille. Where did your line come from & settle? Please email me direct if you'd like at kquinn51@msn.com. Let's see if we can link up. I do have some info from France. Kathy

Beverstock information

Chris, I have also been collecting all Beverstock information. My 4th great-grandmother was Susanna Beverstock. I believe she was the daughter of Edward Beverstock, Jr. and Anna Hill. I have found a record of marriage on June 24, 1804, for Susanna Beverstock to Nathan Prestcott located in Keene, Cheshire Co., NH. It has been passed down that my 4th
great-grandfather Nathan WESTCOTT married Susanna Beverstock. Because of the similarities of Prestcott and Westcott. I believe they are one in the same, just spelled wrong. I just wish I could prove it one way or the other.
I have had fun putting the Beverstock clan together and would like to compare notes with you. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Marnie

Yves:

Thanks for your information. Do you have a family tree posted? If so would you be willing to share? I'm having trouble finding out information on my Great Grandmother. Her father was Antoine Cresson and her mother was Constance Deganden. We do not even know names of any siblings. She came to the States with an Aunt, that is all we know.

Any information would be truly appreciated.
It's nice to know we still have family in France.

Merci!

Kathy
