I am very interested in finding out more about the coat of arms, as I have a copy with the motto "Cressa Ne Careat" on it, but would like to find out the sybolic meaning of the different features of the crest, what the Motto means.

My family originates from the town of Cresswell, Northumberland. I have some information regarding the house that belongs to the Cresswell's, if I am not mistaken it was called Cresswell House, if you any additional info I would really appreciate receiving it from you.

I have moved house recently ( 8 weeks ago) and can't see the folder that I keep them in right now, but I'm sure I'll have them before too long.
Jane Isabella was my g-g-g-grandfather James Kidd's sister. You may know that Jane was the twin sister of MaryAnn Kidd (born 1838) who married John Heritage. I have a reasonable amount of info on the early Yarnolds as I corresponded with Gordon Yarnold for some years. I even had a week with him & Anne in Port Macquarie about 30 years ago! Loved them.

My Grandmother Nellie Eileen Miller did not have a huge amount of pics with names on them. I have a pic of

Hello...Eliza Cresswell was my maternal Great Grandmother. She & Robert Kilshaw had 5 children...Annie b1898,Wilfred b1902,Emily b1906,Mary b1910 & William b 1912. Robert went to USA in 1921 to join Wilfred(dont know when he went)& Eliza with the others went in 1925. I know Emily married someone called Arthur because I vaguely remember them visiting my Grandmother(Annie)in early 1950s. I have info on English Cresswells/ Kilshaws but little on the American side of the family.

Hi! I'm related to you just like Caitlin Sine is. Her great-grandmother and my grandfather were siblings--children of George Henry Mullins. GHM was the son of John H. Mullin (we didn't get an "s" on the end of the name until after the 1880 census) and Mary Ann Cresswell. Do you have any photos of Mary Ann? Another cousin just sent me some pictures of folks in Victorian dress and I was wondering if one of them was she. I understand that she was a large woman and that she died after stepping a rusty nail and developing gangreine.

I am looking for information on a samuel stuart cresswell. He is supposedly the son of Samuel and Elizabeth (nee Stuart)Cresswell. I know he died in homer city, indiana, PA and was married to a Rachel Hylyer. I have info on his descendants, but i need info on his ancestors, more particulary elizabeth stuart, supposedly born around 1797 in PA. I've found some documentation in a history of Westmoreland County, Pa that she is supposed to be the great granddaughter of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, but I can't find info. If you know anything, please help!

I know who you are, Deborah is my mother, she gave me the letter when I was interested in finding out more about my family and where they come from. your letter started my tree, it helped me so much because everyone who was semi-old enough to remember anything has passed away, except my grandmother Vera's daughter. Her two sons though have passed away. I will tell you anything you wanna know about us and what I know about that side of the family.

We're cousins. Vera Mullins Berger was the youngest sister of my grandfather, George Williams Mullins. About 10 years ago, I had contacted Debbie Sine about this. We've moved twice since then and I've lost her address. I'm guessing you are related to her. I don't have much info on that side of the family. I don't think my grandfather got along very well with his siblings. However, I'll gladly tell you what I know.

If my math is correct, we are fourth cousins. John Mullins and Mary Ann Cresswell are our great-great-great grandparents.

George H. Mullins and Sadie F. Mullins were brother and sister.

Sarah Vera Mullins and Florence M. Deck were first cousins.

Louella M. Berger and Richard C. Hillman were second cousins.

Your mother and my father are third cousins.

I grew up in Schuylkill County but live now in Harrisburg. :)

I would like to thank you for all of the wonderful info. I am so happy find out that we have a common ancestors,I learned so much about the Cresswells and what happened to Sadie. I think this would make us 3rd or 4th cousin's which is pretty cool.

I come through Sadie's line.

Sadie F. Mullins (30 Sep 1881-18 Apr 1959) married Charles S. Deck (13 Sep 1881-26 Mar 1950) on 23 Dec 1903. They had two daughters:

Mary Ann Deck (16 Aug 1907-3 Oct 1997) married Roy A. Matthews (born about 1904 in Pennsylvania). That is all the information I have about Mary Ann's line.

Florence Matilda Deck (20 Jun 1905-10 Apr 1985) married Richard Edward Hillman (4 Feb 1894-27 Jan 1960) on 21 Feb 1923 in Saint Clair, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. They had eight children:

Richard Charles Hillman (16 Nov 1923-9 Aug 1967) was my grandfather. He married my grandmother (still living). They had two sons: my uncle Richard Basil Hillman (23 Feb 1947-13 Oct 1992) and my father (still living). My uncle Richard Basil married and had two daughters (still living): one is married with two daughters, one son, and one grandchild (through the older daughter). My father married my mother (still living, now divorced) and had me and my two younger brothers.

Sadie Eleanor Hillman (16 May 1925-19 Jan 2001) married a Shae and had two sons.

Ida May Hillman (7 Feb 1927-15 Feb 1927) did not survive infancy.

Eva Naomi Hillman (7 Jan 1928-28 Nov 2002) married a Reppy, had a son, a daughter, and second son. Both Reppy boys married and had children. The older Reppy son had two daughters. The younger Reppy son was named Robert Earl Reppy (17 Jun 1951-6 Oct 1990). One of Robert Earl's four children (three boys, one girl), Steven R. Reppy (13 Sep 1977-20 Apr 1988), died as a child.

John Kirst Hillman (19 Aug 1930-2 Dec 1963) married and had two sons.

Mary Beatrice Hillman (11 May 1932-May 1982) married a Hauptly and had seven children.

Robert Frances Hillman (12 Nov 1934-27 Aug 2002) married and had no children.

One other daughter who may be still living married twice: once to a Stebnicki and had one son, and once to a de St Croix and had one daughter.

As for the other direction, Sadie F. Mullins's parents were John Mullins (14 Feb 1839-2 Oct 1911) and Mary Ann Cresswell (10 Sep 1842-19 Apr 1907).

I have no information about John Mullins' family.

Mary Ann Cresswell's parents were William Cresswell (5 Jul 1807-21 Mar 1879) and Ann Hunt (d. 28 Feb 1963). Their other children:

Martha Cresswell (b. 20 Jan 1836) married Daniel Walker.

Thomas Cresswell (b. 17 Oct 1838) married Elizabeth Bot Brassington.

William John Cresswell (b. 28 Aug 1840) married Ellen Bot Brassington.

John Cresswell (b. 10 Jul 1845) married Abigail Hart.

Elizabeth Cresswell (11 Oct 1846-10 Jul 1847) did not reach her first birthday.

Jane Cresswell (12 Feb 1848-10 Aug 1859) died young.

Sarah Cresswell (13 May 1850-15 Apr 1921) married George W. Dress (d. 3 Oct 1899) and had nine children (William Charles, George Washington, James, John H., Lillie Ann Dress, Harry, Laura Etta, Edward, Lydia May. Lillie Ann Dress married a Thomas H. Davenport and had eight children (George Thomas, Thomas, Sarah, William, Edward, Clarance, James, and Harry Raymond).

James Cresswell (b. 1 Feb 1852) married Lilly Culbert-Zimmerman.

Dinah Cresswell (b. 24 Aug 1854) -- no further information.

Mary Ann Cresswell was the last born in England; everyone born after her was born in Pennsylvania (most likely the Wadesville area of Schuylkill County). This puts the Cresswell's immigration date around 1844-45.

I have no information about William John Cresswell (the elder)'s family. All I know of Ann Hunt's family is that her father was William Henry Hunt.

I believe that we are related, my great-great-great grandparents were John Mullins and Mary Ann Cresswell Mullins of Pottsville originally from England. I dont know any of their history from before then but, I know that they had 9 childern:
William J. Mullins
George Henry Mullins
James E. Mullins
Emma J. Mullin
Martha M. Mullins
Mary Elizabeth Mullins
Gertrude Mullins
Sadie Mullins
Albert Mullins
I know that this line emigrated from England and John served in the Civil War with the 129th Penn. I know that they dropped the "s" in 1880 census.

My line comes from George Henry Mullins who married a Sarah Ann Williams. They had 6 childern (to our knowledge) one of which was my great grandmother Vera Mullins ( legal name Sarah Vera Mullins) who married some one with the last name Berger. When he died she to Philadelphia and along with it all my knowledge of any family up there was cut off.

i believe we are of the same line, if so could i ask for any information about Mary and John you might have because this is all i have. my line begins here and i would like to go further. thank you any help you can provide to me.

Linda, I believe we are cousins! William Cresswell and Ann Hunt are my great-great-great-great grandparents, through daughter Mary Ann (who was brother to the William, b. 1840, you mentioned). Mary Ann married John Mullins in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, October 10, 1863. I was born in Pottsville just 120 years later. I have a wealth of information concerning Mary Ann's line and would love to swap with you.

He was a bookseller/stationer who lived at 121 Crawford Street, Marylebone on the 1841 census, having married an Eliza Emily, and then had several children including Charles, Alfred and Eliza. He died in 1846. The census says he was born out of county, so I have no way of finding his parents or where he was born, and as of yet I have not been able to find the marriage for him and his wife Eliza-Emily (maiden name unknown, but was born somewhere in Middlesex in approx 1797.)

Any Cresswell thoughts would be appreciated!

I have traced my family tree back to John Cresswell, born in 1791. I noticed that you have some Yarnold connections. I'm not sure if this is going to be of any relevance. On my father's side (Kidd) I have relatives called Yarnold who live in NSW in the Manning River District. They are descended from James Henry YARNOLD, a shoemaker of Tewkesbury who was convicted in the Tewkesbury Quarter Sessions in July 1838, and transported to NSW on the 'Barossa' in 1839. He was born 1816/18 in Tewkesbury, married my Great-great-grandfather's sister Jane Isabella KIDD in 1854 and they had 12 children. He died in 1883 aged 67. I have a photo of him with his wife who was 23 years younger than him.
According to his Death Certificate his parents were James Henry Yarnold and Hannah Williams.
