Samuel Crimm, b. New Jersey about 1821

I am looking for information on Samuel Crimm/Crim, born in New Jersey about 1821, son of Aaron Crimm, married in Boston on 18 Nov 1852 to Mary Donovan. I have no other record of him before or after the marriage. He may have changed his name to Charles Jenkins, because there are census records for a Charles and Mary Jenkins in Boston with her son, Richard Donovan, also in the household.

Does anyone know Samuel Crimm's parents and ancestry and whether he is the same person as Charles Jenkins? If so, why did he change his name?

I have been researcing my husband's family tree. His grandmother was Ola Crimm. The 1910 census lists her and her family as Caine with a correction to Crim. It also lists her having 2 mothers, the first is Nara, the second is Martha Hedrick. Another family tree lists Elizabeth Lenora Hedrick as her mother. We found a land deed with the name Martha Hedrick on it.

d. 01/14/1991 Forest, Co Mississippi.
Her Father is listed as Clarence Pickens Crimm- birth place Mississippi.
Ola married Dock Arnold

I listed Martha Jane Thrash's birthplace as South Carolina. That was a mistake. It was Alabama.

My father's name was Loyd Seaborn "Cotton" Crimm. He was born in Scott County, Mississippi in 1927 and died in 1992 in Tupelo, Mississippi. His siblings were:

Cecil Lane Crimm, born in 1923. Cecil was a Corporal in the Marine Corps and was killed in action on 21 Jul 1944 on the first day of the invasion of the island of Guam.

Lola Mae Crimm, born in 1925. She married Clyde Jefferson Lang. They ran the Greyhound Bus Station in Tupelo for many years. Aunt Lola lives in Saltillo, Mississippi.

Shirley, she died at birth sometime in the thirties.

Dr. Harlon Crimm, born in 1941. Uncle Harlon was the President of Chattahoochee Technical College in the Atlanta area for many years. He's enjoying his retirement.

My grandparents were Arthur Lane Crimm, born 1901, died 1973 and Bertha Gill, born 1903, died 1999.

Arthur Lane Crimm's father was W.W.W. Crimm. Graden Crimm told me it stands for William Wiley Weston. The 1900 census for Newton County, Mississippi lists him as William N. N. Crimm. But that's a transcriber's error. Viewing the original document it's clear that his middle initials were W. W. The 1910 census lists him as W. W. Crimm. His wife was Beulah Patrick. They married in 1893.

W.W.W.'s children were:

William Lester Crimm,born 1894.
Geneva Crimm, born 1896. She married Ab Watson.
Clarence Crimm, born 1898.
Arthur Lane Crimm, born 1901.
Florence Crimm, born 1904.

I knew Aunt Florence, she never married. Of course I knew my grandfather, Arthur Lane. I even met Aunt Geneva once. But I never met Lester or Clarence.

I believe W.W.W.'s parents were William Wesley Crimm, born in 1819 in South Carolina,died in 1900 in Decatur, Mississippi and Martha Jane Leach born in 1828 in South Carolina, died in Conehatta, Mississippi in 1906. I couldn't find William Wesley in any census.

I originally thought that we descended from the Pickens County, Alabama Crimm's because they spelled their names with two m's., but....If one looks at the 1850 census for Shelby County, Alabama there is a William Crim (just one m) listed. His wife's name was Martha. Their first names, ages, and birthplaces match William Wesley Crimm and Martha Jane Thrash Crimm who died in Newton County, Mississippi in 1900 and 1906. The only thing that is different is the spelling of the name.

The children listed were:

Sarah, age 7.
Mary F, age 4.
George, age 3.

W.W.W. was probably born in 1851 and missed the 1850 census....and there were probably other children.

This same census lists a George Crim, age 58, born in South Carolina, that some think was William Wesley's father. They lived in close proximity at the time of the census.

My father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather were all Mississippi Crimm's. They lived in Newton County and Scott County, Mississippi.

while browsing some old post I came across a post you made in 2002 concerning the Crimm family. I also am interested in Crimm heritage. Is your line from the William W. and Martha J. Crimm ancestry? I noticed you said you were interested in finding out where George T. is buried. Did you get this information? Was he William and Martha's son?

I found an old scrapbook in an antique store with many handwritten poems and a picture of a beautiful woman. The names I have found in the book are Edwin Crimm, Helen Davenport, Bonita Gay. There is an obituary from 1933 of a 10 year old girl named Marjorie. Her parents were Mr. Mrs. Edwin A Crimm Jr, brother Maurice, grandfather Edwin Crimm, Sr. I would love to send the scrapbook to a family member who would be interested. The poems are very poignant; the author must have had a sad life. Unfortunately the book is in poor condition, but it is certainly readable. Most poems seemed to be written in the 30's, but there is a separate sheet with a poem by Helen Davenport in 1969. Please contact me if these names are in your family. Thanks, A

I have recently discovered several Azro Crim's (not Crimm) in my family Tree. I have Azro Charles, Azro Charles II, Azro Charles III and Azro Charles IV. Their Ancestry originally was S. Indiana, but most emigrated west to Oregon, and Washington and points between.

Found George F. Crimm a on 1910 and 1930 U.S.Federal Census in Runnels County, Texas. Found Pearl Crimm marriage to Homer Kidwell Corum in 1908 in Runnels County and marriage of Ida Crimm to E. S. Stokes also in 1908 in Runnels County. Do you have any death dates for these people? Pearl is the direct ancestor.

Also found Dr. William E. Crimm (b @1856 in Louisiana)
and wife Saphronia with sons James T. and William E. Jr. Are William E. Crimm Sr. and George F. Crimm related?

Trying to clear up one of those little family mysteries. PERRY MILTON CRIMM, (my cousin) born 18 July 1908, at Round Rock, Williamson Co., TX, son of OLIVER PERRY CRIMM & JESSIE LEE STOKES. He died in a gasoline tanker truck explosion, date unknown; but I remember going to his funeral as a child, probably in the 1940's. I think the funeral was in San Antonio, but not sure. The Texas Birth Index on Ancestry.com shows a MILTON CRIMM and a HESTER BUCHANEK as parents of JACK PERRY BUCHANEK, born 1927 in Bexar Co., TX. The 1930 Bexar Co. census shows Bennie Buchanek, age 51, widow; living in the same household is a daughter, HESTER CRIMM, age 24, divorced, and a grandson, MILTON CRIMM, age 3. Does anyone know the date of Perry Milton Crimm's death and where he is buried? Also, did he have a child with Hester Buchanek, and if so, what name did that child use? Would like to know the marriage & divorce dates. Thanks for your help.

Hi Ron, you are correct in saying they had a daugher named Sophia. She was born in 1839 and married James R. Odom in Sabine Parish, LA. James served in the CSA according to records in the Van Zandt Co.Genealogical Society Historical Library, Canton, TX.

George's middle name was Freeman. Yes he was born in La and had the following children Chester A. Crimm, William P, Daniel, Henry, Hester (twin of Chester who died after birth), Elbert Bridges ( Rev B. B.) Crimm, Perlie M., Martha Ellie, Emmitt, James Oscar, Mary Ida, George Robert, Arthur E.
George Robert Crimm had a son Vernon Gaston born Oct 3, 1936. Would love to share information with you of what I have.

My husband's father is James A.Crimm and his father was Chester A. Crimm and his Father is George F. Crimm and his father is Charles C. Crimm.

Sorry, I wanted to give as much info as I could. Our Chas C. Crimm, Jr.and his family migrated from GA to AL to LA to East TX, Van Zandt Co. Geo. T. was b in Sabine Parish, LA. One of his 13 children was Geo. R. Crimm and another was Rev. BB Crimm, who had a very colorful life. We have the notes on his history.

Susanne, I wanted to tell you that Charles was from VA and migrated to GA. His wife, Sophia E. Norman's family was from TN. Chas and Sophia m in GA abt 1831. We are still trying to confirm Sophia's surmane as Norman. Do you have any info on this?

We have a John and James M. Crimm in our family. There father is Charles C Crimm who died in Texas. Charles had 8 children George T., Martha A. John, Sophia A., Thomas Newton, James M., Voctoria Antonet, and Edward A. Crimm. John was born in 1835 in Ga. and James. M. born 1849 in Alabama or Sabine Parish, La. he died in Tx. My husband's line goes from Charles to his son George T. to his son Chester Arthur to his son James Arthur to my husband Lewis M. (Butch). Maybe this will be of some help. Let me know. I do know that one of the Crimm's from Texas did go to Okla.

Does anyone know who Charles Crimm Jr married? Did he move to Ga? Does he have decendents that lived in Texas? I am looking for a Charles C Crimm who had a son George. I can't get any information on Charles...except he may have been married twice. Once in Ga and once in Texas. He is buried in Texas along with a wife Eleanor. Any help greatly appreciated.

I served under a Major Azro Crimm (as I recall) at Purdue University, ROTC Detachment 220 (as I recall) during the period 1968 to 1971. Can you provide me any information concerning same. I recall that he told me that he was from Oklahoma, enlisted during the Korean War, was of Native American descent. I also recall that he was working on (another) degree while at Purdue.

My mother,maiden name--Marie Robinson,had a cousin Rueben Crimm/Krimm(?) who lived in Atlanta,GA. He and his wife were killed in a plane crash.I am not sure of the spelling of the name or the date of death. My only info is that the crash killed a number of people associated with the Atlanta Art Museum.

Thank you for responding to my message.To the best of my knowledge James Robinson is not a family member. My Grandfather's family name was Crimm. When he arrived in Norfolk, and was asked his name,he said Emmanuel Rueben's son....thus Emmanuel Robinson. Sounds like a joke but it is true.
