Hello,My name is Russell Dean Grant,Born-Russell Dean Chriscoe in Jacksonville, Florida,Dec 3,1962.I was left at University Hospital because I was too sick for my mother to take care of me.I was put in foster care until I was 12 then adopted.I had heard several stories about my birth parents,I heard i have a sister & brother.I was told My brothers name is Donald and at the time he was in an Orphanage.I have tried a few times to find out about my real family history without any real results.I see that a lot of chriscoes were from the Carolinas.I'm doing fine but Knowing something about your biological history would be nice.Sincere replys to Grant0000@bellsouth.net.

We have found links to Sicily where the name is very common. I believe the meaning of the name originates from the Greek, Christos (Christ or One Anointed with Oil (of the Holy Spirit)) It is no accident that Crisco is an oil. Comes from same root.

Try this website.. you may find it helpful..it has some info on the Crisco's. When you go to the website...wait for it to load, then press the "F" key once on the keyboard, that should bring up a list of names....there are several Crisco's on the list....click on one of them then click apply and close the box out....in order to bring the search box up again, just click the "F" on your keyboard....if you see an individual on the tree that you want to know more about you can right click on them and a dropdown list will pop up....then go down either to details, which will list birth and death dates and locations (if available) or right click and go to Make primary individual... hope this is helpful....send a reply if you want to let me know if you found this site helpful or not....... http://www.genealogy.com/users/c/r/i/Don-D-Crisco/TREE/0001t... <----copy and paste to your browser.....

I would love to compare notes. The info I have was collected by my paternal grandmother, one of her sibs, and my mother. Unfortunately, all are now deceased so I don't have access to their sources. Most of it was direct family knowledge. I am having to reload my data after a virus so I may be a little slow to respond but not too bad, just a few days.

My files are in Family Tree Maker format and include multiple marriages into the Crisco family such as Hunt, Gantt, and Weeston. Based on what you say you have available, I don't think I have much that is different. What I listed in my first response to your post is as much detail as I have at that branch of the Crisco genealogy. What parts of the Jacob A. Crisco line are you missing?

Can you email me?
Hi, if anyone on here was in contact with Linda Bailey Cornelius around 1999, please contact me..She was my mother and she passed away last year. I am now doing the genealogy and unfortunately, I have no idea who she might have found that had additional information. I appreciate any and all replies. You may contact me directly, but please either put "genealogy" or "Linda" in the subject so I know it is not junk mail.

Thanks in Advance, Tabitha

I have one ancestor, for which I have been unable to find parents. He is Turner Sisco, but in one census records with his wife the his name was spelled "Tierner Crisco", and that census was in either Tennessee (where he was born and married to Tabitah Ray) or in Missouri (Don't have my records with me right now). Tabitha Turner were married in Grainer County, Tennessee. You may want to look at the surname of Sisco or Cisco when doing your research... and I may just keep looking at Crisco.

You can reply to me directly at suesisco@yahoo.com. I am looking for in formation on a Turner Sisco/Cisco/Crisco, born NC or TN 1812-1816. He married in Grainger County TN Tabitha Ray, daughter of Abner Ray and Ruth Sparkman. In first census records they were listed as Crisco, next Cisco, then Sisco. I have been searching for 20 years for Turners parentage... along with other researchers... to no avail. Any clues would be most helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

I saw your posting, I have been looking for a long time for a childhood friend of mine named Rustin Crisco, he went by Rusty Crisco, he lived in Wichita, Kansas during the 60's and moved to Arkansas in about 1972, he would have been born in 1959 and should be 41 or maybe 42 - could he be a cousin of yours? He had a little sister, but I don't remember her name or his parents name - please let me know if you are related to him, I know for a fact, his grandparents lived in Arkansas and his parents wanted to moved back there, hope to hear from you!

Appreciate your reply. My name is Donald Charles Crisco. My grandfather's name was Adam McKinley Crisco born in Bland County VA. My father's name is Andrew Wayne Crisco of Bluefield, WV. He has 4 brothers - one who is dead. Their names are McKinley Adam Crisco who lives in Windsor, NC; Donald Crisco who lives in Bluefield, WV; Orion Lee Crisco also lives in Windsor, NC; and Calvin Crisco, who died lived in Bluefield, WV. Some records show that our name was spelled Chriscoe. Most recent shows Crisco. We found some relatives in different parts of North Carolina, VA, and WV. I don't think we checked Tennessee in depth. We appreciate the information on TN. Now we will try to check on Sumner County. What was the connection between Capiah county and sumner county Tennessee? Did you ever check Virginia and West Virginia for records - birth and death? Anything you can tell me will be appreciated. Donald Charles Crisco. My email address is cmommorty@AOL.com
