Hi - it's been awhile but I am back.

Della Armetta was born in Kansas, but somehow ended up in Pottawhamie (SP?), IA with her sister Estella or Stella. Census records say she was with her sister under the care of a Cole family, but then she and Stella moved to Iowa to live. Her sister was adopted by the Buick family, but Della was listed as a border at the age of 15.

Her census info also lists the father (unnamed) to be born in WI, while her mom was born in Indiana.

Sounds like she and her sister were passed around, and then they were split up. Sounds pretty sad.

Just wish I knew more.
