Charles Crismon's original name, I believe was Charles Chrisman, he did change it when he joined the church, his son's name, I believe was george Crisman, my grandfathers name was Ralph Crismon Nelson and I am H. Crismon Nelson. Charles went to Salt Lake in 1847 and then established Measa Arizona, or participated. I am trying to fill in the blank between Ralph and George Crismon. Church records next I guess.

Best Regards,

H. Crismon Nelson, "Cris"

Sorry it has taken so long to answer. I am not sure if your ancestor is buried in this cemetery or not. It is fairly large and old and many of the headstones are hard to read. I was mainly interested in the Grahams and Crismon family members buried there. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

I ran into something about a Isaac and he went to war and was nicknamed one-armed Ike.
Hi there, I had a grandfather named Robert Washington Crismon who was born in Missouri. All I know is his mother was Cherokee and his father was white. I can only estimate a birthdate on him as he was older than my grandmother. I believe he was possibly born between 1885-1900. He was a wildcatter in the oil fields of Mansford OK when my father was born in 1922. My father's name was William Charles Robert Crismon, though he only went by Charles Robert Crismon. Before he died he mentioned he had and uncle Charlie whose real name was somthing like Charles Cullie Christopher Columbus Crismon.
You never know someone may read my reply and it will click with them. I have been having problems finding any of my father's relatives.

You should get the book "History of Maries County" by Everett Marshall King. There is much information about Mary and other Crismons' who settled in that central Missouri area in the early 1800's. My middle name and my relatives are also Crismon (Christman) (Crisman). The family history is very rich. Send me an e-mail and I would be glad to help. Attached is a picture of the Crismon cemetery about 10 miles west of Vienna, Mo.

Edward Crismon Beard

I am looking for the death dates to Gilbert and Nancy Crismon. Gilbert was last in a census in 1880 in Yuba, Sutter Co., CA and then not again in 1900. I do not know when he passed away but figure it was between 1880-1900.

Nancy was last in a 1900 census and she was living in Yuba Sutter Co., CA. So she passed away between 1900-1920 censuses.

Thank you for any information that you may have! Tasha

Josephine--I am having a hard time connecting your Crismon's to mine in Maries Co., Mo., however, that doesn't mean there isn't a connection. I could be through a brother or son of a brother. I limit my research to the direct lines and their offspring only, otherwise the information gets too hard to handle.
Crismon, Nichols

I am researching my great, great grandparents Isaac M. Nichols and Cordelia M. Crismon. I have documents that give conflicting dates and places of birth for both. All say Isaac was born in Baltimore, MD in the time frame 1832-1855. Cordelia was either born in CA or MO. Her marriage certificate says she is a native of MO. Her obit says she was born in Red Bluff, CA. I think her children were just confused of where she was born. I believe her parents came out west after having her. I have been told by a relative that her parents were George Crismon and Elizabeth Hagler. But looking at census I found for Oregon and CA I find a Cordelia for the proper time frame living with Gilbert and Nancy Crismon. In the 1860 census for Applegate, Jackson, Oregon there is another family with the head of the family being Archibald. I think Archibald is Gilbert's uncle. I lose Cordelia with this family in the 1880 Yuba, Sutter County, California census. But I do have a marriage certificate for Isaac Nichols and Cordelia Crismon married in Eureka, Humboldt, CA in 1874. I trace her the rest of her life if this person listed in the 1860 census is my Cordelia Crismon. I found no other Cordelia Crismon or any form of that spelling in any of the areas I have searched. This Cordelia seems to be in the areas she is supposed to be in during the right time frames. I have had several people tell me this is my Cordelia. I am searching for birth records for her in MO. I have found none in CA. I am also looking for birth records for Isaac Minard Nichols in MD also. In the different documents I have the Crismon name has been spelled many different ways. Any information would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

I would love to have any information on her at all. I know that she was married to John Hughes and I've seen some information that there may have been a second marriage to a man named Miller. I think I did find her on the 1920 Jasper county census living with her son-in-law and daughter. I am also curious about how you relate to Mary. I have a picture of her if you would be interested. I would forever be your best friend if you could tell me where she is buried! Feel free to e-mail me direct at ellismk@aol.com.

Thanks, Mindy

Hi Kathy, I have family by the name of Crismon from Missouri. My Grandmother Amelia was born in Dixon, Missouri in 1896. She had a brother William Leonard that was born in 1894. I think this is Maries County, but I think it was part of Pulaski Co at one time.

Don't know if this is any help, because the
Tony doesn't fit, but I have found most of the spelling "Crismon" are usually related as
a fairly recent G-Grandfather changed the spelling from Christman to Crismon. Keep in touch!

Hi Kathy, We must be in the same family. Gilbert Oliver Crismon is my great-grandfather and Gilbert Oliver is also my grandmothers brother and my G-G-Great grandfather is Gilbert Crismon. I have information back to Jacob Christman. (spelling was changed a few generations back)
Jacob came from Germany in 1711 from Worms, Germany. My descendants are: Jacob-Isaac-Isaac-Gilbert-James-Gilbert Oliver-Amelia-Keith-Kay (Me). I have lots of information on the family, wifes, children history, etc.
Jacob Christman with his father-in-law, Jost Heydt and two brothers-in-law first settled the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Jacob was married in Kingston N.Y. to Magdalent Heydt, they went to Germantown, P.A. then to Virginia and then eventually on to Missouri.
All very interesting! I will be happy to give you any information you'd like. It's got to be the same family. Let me know.
