The first SS Crissman married to ADA - that was his second wife. His first wife Agnes died (I am told) in childbirth with their first child who was also named Samuel Steele Crissman. He was my grandfather and was living in DE when he passed in 1944 - two weeks after I was born. More if you email me privately - thank you so much for adding this.

I have a picture which says on the back Mr. & Mrs Crissman date either 1943 or 1945 and the town Tionesta. They look about the age 40-50 maybe. Also reference in our oral history of a Crissman marrying someone named Peggy. I think the two items are connected. Does anyone recognize the little bit of info I have?

Stumbled upon these postings. My name is Steele Crissman. My father's name is S. Steele Crissman. He is 79 years old and is from Johnstown, PA. I was born in Hagerstown, PA. Sorry to be so long returning to you. Only the name Frank agree with any of my records. Have many photos of Crissmans in Milford, Pike County, PA. Your Frank might be descended from James of Sussex NJ, born around 1780. James had several sons who may have kept in touch for a couple of generations, hence the Frank in your line, maybe for Franklin, like my great grandfather. Best luck in your research.

I have, from a book published in 1978 that includes information about Dabney Crissman's family line, a mention of a Bud Mylon Festis Crissman whose father was Aaron Crissman, grandfather Charles L. Crissman (born in Philadelphia, PA, 1776). I don't think Bud Mylon Festis Crissman was born in Surry County; his mother was Aaron's second wife. Aaron is said to have left his first family for reasons no one knows and started another family "over the mountain." Bud Mylon Festis' mother was Nancy Elizabeth Key, and his full brothers were named John Henry Crissman and King David Crissman (odd, I know). My father's aunt, Letha Crissman Reeves, was John Henry's daughter, I think. The two names are so similar that perhaps there is a connection.

Charles L. Crissman born in Philadelphia 1776

I am interested in any information about a Charles L. Crissman, born in Philadelphia in 1776. He is supposedly the son of one of three German immigrants for whom we only have a last name, originally Von Krissmann. He married Suzannah M. Carter and moved to Surry County, NC. Children's names were:

George (1801), Elizabeth (1803), Margaret (1806), Charley (1806), Lydia (1808), Polly (1809), Sarah (1811), Aaron (18something, and my great-great grandfather), and Moses (1817).

Kept clicking on links until I found a search tool that worked. His father was Karl Crissman, whose father was J. George Crissman, who came over on the Lydia. It's nice to finally have more names and dates, and the name of the ship and the town in Germany.

The dates are a little different, but I am pretty sure they are the same one. She was Miles Festus (Bud) Crissman's first wife, and Dora was his second. I have discovered that Miles Festus(Bud)Crissman's father was Aaron Crissman and mother was Nancy Elizabeth(Betty Key). I do not have any dates yet. Hope this helps.

Miles Festus (Bud) Crissman had brothers Henry married Liz Donovan, Dave married Cora Marion. Sisters Lummy never married, and another sister might have been named Lula Mae?

I've found a few other Hezekiah's - another person (Ruth Acor of Idaho) has his birthdate as 27 May 1807 in Laramie WY (married to Elizabeth Crissman) with a daughter Caroline Long born in Wyoming (who married a Michael B. HILEMAN) and a daughter Elizabeth also born in Laramie, WY (who married a John HILEMAN). Both husbands were born in PA - interesting, eh?

I have Miles "Bud" Crissman in my database. I think he would have been born in Surry County.
Aaron Crissman (various spellings) was listed on the 1850 Surry Census, Siloam Twp., with wife Elizabeth. In 1860, Aaron, and wife, Elizabeth, were living in the Rockford Twp., of Surry County. In 1870, Aaron, age 55, was listed with Nancy, age 27 in Eldora Twp, Surry County. . In 1880, Aaron and wife, Nancy E. were back in Rockford Twp., Son, Miles F. was 4 years old.

Miss Crissman was to have married Ryan several days ago, but failed to appear at the time appointed for the ceremony. As was stated in The Bee a few days afterward, Miss Crissman went to Kansas City. It is said the telegram received from her yesterday implores Ryan’s forgiveness for her act. Ryan is now in Santa Cruz and the telegram was forwarded to him at that place.

I was employed by Samuel Steele Crissman in Woburn, Mass. from 1978 to 1996. He had a home in Winchester, Mass. and I also heard he had moived to Florida. I have't heard anything since 2001 or so. I will always consider hime the most generous person I have ever met.

I'm looking for the parents of Elizabeth Crissman. She was married to Henry Fleck, and they lived in Blair County, Pa. They had , Mary Fleck McKee (my gg grandmother). Mary was born in 1848 and died in 1932. The 1850 and 1860 Census shows Elizabeth as being born in 1815, and their children as Ellen, Nancy, Luther, Charles, Edward, William, Mary, Charlotte, Steele R.

Daniel Crissman/Crossman Sinking Valley PA

I'm researching my Crissman connection and can document the ancestry up to the Daniel Crissman b. 17 Aug 1784 d. 05 Sep 1833 (both Sinking Valley/Tyrone, Blair Co. PA) - who married Catherine FLECK - they had 10 children. (George Fleck Crissman is my connection)

One book by Dr. McKnight states that this Daniel's father's name was also Daniel and that he was the first in this line to immigrate to the U.S.

However, all the entries on Ancestry.com & such seem to say that Daniel's father was Johann Friedrich Crossman b. 26 Feb 1727. From the dates - it might be that I'm missing a generation.

Am interested in dates & names of Johann F.'s children.

I don't think the birth date is correct for Frederick's wife - FamilySearch has b. about 1729/1730 in Trappe PA (which makes more sense as 1704 would make her about 23 yrs older than husband). Marriage date shown as 06 Dec 1750 in Trappe PA.

Susannah's mother Catherine was born in 1704 in Germany.

I'm researching the family of Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Crissman b. 8 Mar 1915 d. 11 Feb 2002 m. Margaret (Peg) Pentz.

His parents were George (b. Feb 1874) & Minerva (b. Mar 1877) (Miller I think) - 7 children in family: Sarah L., Oliver M., William B., Joseph R., George Jr, Frank, Eleanor.

Grandparents were: Oliver (b. 1845) & Mary J (b. 1848) - 5 children: Sara, Daniel, Ida B., George, Edith (lived in Smicksburg in 1870s & 1880s)

Great Grandparents were: George F. (b.1819) & Nancy (b. 1818) - 8 children: David, Abraham, Oliver, Frederick, John, Catherine, Scott, Milton.

That's as far back as I've gotten. Ring any bells for anyone?
