Sorry this is a year late, my ggm was Rose Ann Carr who gave birth to my grandfather (illigitimately) in 1879, named him James Carr but later became James Carr McLaren.

In 1887 ggm Carr married Peter Croal whose parents are shown on their marriage certificate as Patrick and Dora Croal nee Kerrigan.

Also on their marriage certificate Rose was shown as Kerr not Carr. Her parents are shown as James Kerr and Rose Kerr nee Sloan, which I have documents to show them previously as Carr (and also Corr).

Any thoughts or ties?

Can anybody help me find out information about Thomas Croal born somewhere in Ireland between 1820 and 1822 who married an Anne Gilchrist also born somewhere in Ireland between 1830 and 1832. I believe they left Ireland during the Potato famine of 1850 and moved to Old Monkland(Coatbridge) area of Scotland. The were married in Dundyvan Coatbridge 9-Oct-1853. They had 9 children: Thomas b:2 Dec 1860, James b: 4 Jun 1859, Edward who was born in 1861 (cannot find his birth - He is my g grandfather), Catherine b: 1 May 1862, Anne b: 18 Nov 1864, Margaret b: 14 Oct 1866, another Margaret b: 12 Nov 1867, Patrick b: 22 Mar 1869 and Mary b: 3 Mar 1871. All the children were born in Old Monkland except Edward who may have been born in Ireland
Thanks

I have many relatives in the Old Monkland Coatbridge area around that time including Hernan's who married Croall's. They came from Ireland, but I don't know where exactly. Do you have any info on Margaret Croall m. Andrew Hernan in Coatbridge,Lanarkshire,Scotland ca 1854 or Lawrence Hernan m. Winifred Croal ca 1827
