Hello,

Just within the past 3 weeks the Croasmun name came up in our family history search. Roxanne Maple, b. 1867 married a James A. O. Croasmun. Roxanne's parents were born in Ohio but I'm not certain about her at this point. The Maple family went to Ohio from Fayette County, PA. It may be that Roxanne was married before she went to CA where she died in 1955. If any of this is of interest, please reply.

Dot:

A listing I have lists seven children for Asa (I) Croasmun and Patience Oliver:
Cloe (b 1792), Asa (II) (b 1794), Rebecca(b 1796), Joseph(b 1798), Oliver (b 1800), Nathan (b 1804) and William(b 1805 or 1806) First five were born in NH. Nathan and William settled on adjacent farms in Green Twp, Indiana County, PA. William was my father's great grandfather.

In this listing, Rebecca was married to a John Piper. Her brother Asa (II) was married to Mary McHenry. Joseph was married to Catherine McHenry.

This is someone else's research so I cannot verify that this is actually correct.

Cynthia, there seems to be a generation missing. Assuming a parental age of 30 years for the birth of each family member mentioned in your post, Robert, son of John the immigrant, would have been born almost 10 years after John arrived in the New World.

By the way, I am descended from the youngest of Asa and Patience's children, William, who was born in 1805 or 1806 and was married to Eva Hostler. William's older brother Nathan, settled on an adjacent farm on Cush Cushion Creek upstream from Cherry Tree, PA. I have visited the site. Nothing left but a stone foundation beside the railroad tracks. It has been called Nathan's Place since I can remember.

The graves of Asa and Patience are on my grandfather's farm. It is said that my grandmother changed the spelling of our family name for reasons unknown. My grandfather was William G. Crosmun and his father was John Croasmun, who is buried in the Thompson Cemetery.

One of our distant relatives living in central PA contacted my mother many years ago and they shared geneologies. I have the work of this lady on a piece of graph paper. Sorry don't remember her name.

Mike - thanks for reply! As far as I know, she was from
Pennsylvania. At least that is what I am told - that and that
she left to go west with her parents! They settled in Pennsylvania for some time as I have a relative that is
101 years old and remembers her mother telling of them
coming to Pennsylvania (Clarion County) by covered wagon.
This was his second wife. His first had three children and
suddenly passed.
Mike - I am searching for a Rachel Croasmun/Croasman
who was born about 1844. She was married to my
great great grandfather Samuel Thomas Frampton in 1870.
After two years, there is nothing mentioning her and he
remarried. Wondering what happened to her? This has
been a dead end for our family tree. Do you know anything
of her or what might have happened? Anything you have
would help. I have heard she left and went with her family
out west but nothing more. Thanks!

Jeanne Frampton/Happach
Am seeking information on Rebecca (married Jame Lewis), Joseph (married Catherine McHenry), and Asa (married Patience Oliver. Seeking information on Asa's father - possibly from England. Seeking location of Rebecca's grave (supposidly in Cherry Tree PA Thompson Cemetery but could not find.) and any facts, dates, license information, anecdotes, descendent relatives of Rebecca's line of Croasmuns. I have ONLY the information that I posted on the Croasmun line as it related to Asa, then Joseph, then Rebecca to my father Luther Lewis (Rebecca's great grandson). Sorry but no information on other Croasmun lines or siblings. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I really didn't find much. Had been told that this line was Native American and as you know this makes searching more difficult.
I suggested he call the Native American Tribal Bureau and give them the info he had and they would do some searching for him.
Here is his phone number--1-509-633-8042---Croasmun
lives in Electric City, WA
I suggest you give him a call and he may send you what he has. Bet he would be very pleased to hear from you.
Sorry about this but had posted messages on this line last year and never heard from anyone so gave him what I had found.
Oh, his first name is Emanuel believe he is called Red as a nickname.
If you have problems getting ahold of him let me know.
Thanks for your help---------------------------------------Sharon

My father Luther Lewis was from Cherry Tree, PA. My great great grandfather James Lewis married Rebecca Croasmun. She was the daughter of Joseph Croasmun and Catherine McHenry. Joseph is the son of Asa Croasmun who was married to Patience Oliver. My brother and I are seeking any information or connections on our Croasmun line beyond Asa and Patience or related descendents. Also interested in burial sites, dates, location of records etc. I also have a narrative history of Asa's branch by a Croasman relative to email anyone requesting it.
