My earliest verifiied ancestor was John Crotchett who died in Pope County, Illinois in 1852. He was born in 1795 in North Carolina, and his mother's name was definitely Patience, and I believe his father's name was Samuel. I first found him and his brother James, and sisters Nancy and Happy as "Crocket" or "Crockett" and then "Crochet" or "Crotchet" and finally as "Crotchett." I do not believe and have found no indications that we are in any way related to the Louisiana Crochets. I wonder if any of you Crochets, Crockets or Crocketts who come across any "Crotchet/tt" info in your travels would be kind enough to send it my way. Thank you for your kind consideration.
