Hello Peggy,

I hope you are doing well. I have traced the Crochet family back to Guillaume Crochet (b 1701?) and Julienne Durand (b 1704?) from Megrit, France. I also have a branch going back to Daniel Leblanc (b 1626) from Port Royal, Acadia who is the great+3 grandfather of Pelagie Benoit who, as you know, married Yves Crochet in Louisbourg on the Ile Royal in what is now Nova Scotia just before the Le Grand Dérangement. The problem is I do not have a complete lineage from about 1850 to current. I am from Houma, but my father's family lived in Montegut. Would you please assist me in completing this? I'm also working on my mother's side of the family (Gatling), so, if you could specify any resources you use would be greatly appreciated. My email address is crochetlsu@yahoo.com.

I have not come across either of your names in my direct ancesters. My ancesters came from France and Nova Scotia to Louisiana. I have found my Crochet family in Assumption, and Iberia Parishes for the most part. I have found a couple in Lafourche and St.Mary Parishes. I wish I could help you more. Don't give up!! I had to start all over again after Hurricane Katrina. Good luck!! Peggy

Maybe u can help me my grandmother is old and she seems to have lost her mind when it comes to family. Her mother's name was oliva Crochet who married Adras Lejeune. I have looked and all i can find is her mother Margurete ? and Father Augustin Crochet. Any help to go further is greatly appreciated

Are you the same Renee Wineski who worked for Dr. Billings in Chalmette, LA? If you are, then we have met. I lost my family history in Hurricane Katrina in August, 2005. I am still trying to research the Crochet line. I am also a descendent of the France and Nova Scotia Crochet's. I had info all the way back to Guillaume Crochet. My great grandfather was Leonard Crochet who was married to Ultima Marie Simoneaux. His parents were Adonis Crochet and Clemence Aucoin. We're looking for an old friend, Robert Crochet who would be in his late 30's, maybe early 40's. He was in the Army and stationed in Germany in 1989. The last known address we have for him is Sulphur, LA, but it is several years old. We know he has family in LA, has at least one child (boy) and has been divorced. We think the family is in the Lake Charles area. Hoping they didn't get hit by Hurricane Katrina. Am anxious to get any info you might have. I AM RESEARCHING THE CROCHET FAMILY. MY MOTHER IS MARJORY THERESA CROCHET, b. 11 OCT 1913, d. 20 MAY 1970. My grandfather is Alcide Crochet b.30 JAN 1886 in Loreauville, Iberia, LA, d. 3 JAN 1962. His spouse is Lucy Cecile St.Martin.His father is Leonard Crochet and his mother is Marie Ultima Simoneaux. I have some information on this family all the way back to Guillaume Crochet in the early 1700's. I am missing a lot of birth and death information. Daughter of Julien Crochet and Maguerite Belanger, born 11/4/1805, Julien was son of Pelagie Benoit and Yves Crochet.Rosalie married Pierre Gregoire Gauthier 1/6/1823. Julien born 4/4/1770 Guesny France died 9/24/1829, Thibodaux, LA Maguerite B 2/6/1771 d 9/22/1829 in Houma, LA. She was daughter of Nicholas Belanger and Marguerite LeJeune. That is the only information I have on Rosalie.

John Crochet was my G. Grandfather and I have very limited info. on him. We know he was 21 years older than his wife, Julia Venealia Bourg, that he was widowed once before he married Julia and that he had one child with Julia, my grandmother-Marie Rose Crochet. We estimated that he was born in : 1878 and married in 1920 and that he died between 1925-1927 of a heart attack. If anyone out there can help me, please contact me, I need all the help I can get!!!

Hi,Looks like were cousins.My father is Louis,His father Stanwood,His father Gustave,His father Alfred,His father Nicolas,His father Julien,His father Yves,His father Guillaume Crochet.Your gg-grandfather Julien was the brother of my gg-grandfather Alfred Crochet-That makes us 4th cousins.So yes I would love info.I just started our tree a few months ago.And I'm working on my site named "The Crochet's" It won't be ready untill toward the end of summer.I am still tracking info.I hope when it opens you will visit it.I have a piece of work I'm having great trouble with!Alfred and Marie's Children (correct children)Visiting different places I've located 15 children with Alfrd Marie listed as their Parents.Surley they didn't have that many.Also found info that a Leandre Nicolas born to Julien and Marqurite with the same date of birth as Nicolas Leandre only Leandre Nicolas died at age 1 1/2.Do you have any of this info?It is recorded at The St.Joseph Church in Baton Rouge,Louisiana.Said he was buried in Church Cem.on 5-24-1802.I also looking for Alfred correct middle name.I found 4. I'm descended through this family, too, although not through Rosalie, but through Eleonor Crochet, the son of Julien Crochet and Marguerite Bellanger.

The only information I can add is the parents of Nicholas Belanger were Nicholas Belanger and Agnes Cartier of Beaupre, Quebec.
