My GGrandmother name was Margaret J Crocker 1881-1966, her father was William David Crocker. William came to Canada with his older brother Matthew and Younger sister Mary(Polly)from Devonshire, England in the mid 1800s (I don't have dates). Their parents, who were farmers, had both died in Devonshire and the 3 children (Matthew ?, William 19, Polly 14) decided to try their chances in the new world. The ship they traveled on was wrecked off the coast of Nova Scotia. The three Crockers survived the wreck. Matthew headed for Arkansas, William and Polly went to London, Ontario and settled near there. William married Amelia Sheppard (McIntyre), and they had 12 children (wow). William "died a middle aged man" and Amelia moved with most of her kids to British Columbia. Margaret (my GGrandma) stayed in Ontario and married James Brandon, Their daughter Marion is my grandmother. If anyone has info on the Devonshire Crockers, the Arkansas Crockers or the British Columbia Crockers, please let me know. I have plenty of info on the descendants of Margaret Brandon (Crocker).
