Was my great-grandfather, born in Germany about 1843. Spent time in Ohio, lived in Iowa (Oskaloosa), Nebraska, and eventually moved to Oregon where he died in 1898 at the age of 55. He was married to Louisa Jane Dickey in 1871 who was born in Indiana. My goal is to find out more information on Augustus's parents who came from Germany in
1845. I would like to know where Augustus was born in Germany -- I think Baden --and whether the name used to be spelled "Kroft." Thanks for any help!
