Virginia's Daniel Croft born Prussia

I am searching for the origins of Daniel Croft who married Mary Hamilton (dt of John) in Botetourt Co Virginia. Their son, David B. Croft was born abt 1813 in Botetourt Co Va and later was living in Franklin Co, and then in Big Lick which became Roanoke Va

On census and his marriage license, David lists his father, Daniel's, birthplace as Prussia.

I do not know for sure the names of David's siblings, but I noticed many similar names used in the Penn. Crofts such as John, Jacob, and the initial H. that are present in the Botetourt, and later Franklin Co and Roanoke Va Crofts.

David named sons John, Jacob, Samuel Houston (my gfather)Amos, George, and others.

Some of the Crofts in Virginia are transribed as CRAFT in marriage and census records, which I have found is a common error.

My line is through David B Croft and Caroline Chafin, his son Samuel Houston and Matilda Weaver, and his son Samuel Oakey and Cecil Ruth Updike.

Any tips about the Prussian/German Crofts are very much wanted!

P.Croft
