Surnames: Croker or Croaker
I am searching for information on William Croker of Orange County. He was a free born colored man and married to a free born colored woman (possibly a Pettiford or ?) Also, it is possible that his mother or grandmother was Fay Croker. This family may have originated in Granville County North Carolina. William Croker died in Orange County ~ Jan/Feb 1847. He has three known children to survive him: Tempy Croker Archey, William Croaker, and John Nelson Croker.
