Hi I was born in Williamsburg and my family was from that general area. My great granfather was James M. Croley, his father was Little Berry Croley from Knox County Ky., born 1815 d. 1879. L.B.'s father was a William Croley, grandfather was another Little Berry Croley, whose father was Samuel Crowley from Pittslvania Co. Va. Samuel was in the Va. Militia and was killed 10/10/1774 by British led Shawnee indians and is listed as the first fatality of the revolution. He and brother Benjamin Crowley were long-hunters who travelled back and forth across into Ky. They probably knew Boone, Kenton, Clark, and others.
